So tonight I'm babysitting an adorable sea monkey named Jadia, my friend Erika's one month old daughter. Before this kid was born, I never wanted anything to do with children, I didn't even know how to hold them. But that definitely changed after she was born.
Erika and Jadia playing with the evil rabbit (from Monty Python) plushy.
Jadia sleeping on my chest.
I have been affectionately nicknamed "Daddy."
It was so strange when Jade was born I immediately kicked into some kind of 'mother mode' that I never even thought I had. My boyfriend is a little afraid of my new found baby love, but he doesn't have to worry. I'm definitely 110% content with just helping Erika out when she needs me.
Oh, and the sea monkey thing... When I went with Erika for her ultra sound that determined Jade was going to be a girl, I couldn't make heads or tails of the ultra sound. The doctor said "Congratulations, it's a girl!" Without thinking I blurted out, "Are you sure it's not a seamonkey?!" After that it just kind of stuck. Poor kid. Had an embarrassing nickname before she was even born.
