I had Kiara in to give her the drops that thevet told me to use just to help clear up the eye irritation that Kiarahas but I was running my hand over her body and found a scab. prettymuch right below the shoulder blade.

I cut the hair away so I could investigate further and tell if it wassomething else. It's a small white area on the skin. It does appear tobe a scab because when I pinch the skin together, it has been sort ofcracked like a scab does when you pinch the skin around it.

I didn't notice that particular scab before but I have noticed the oddbit of loose skin the general area that I found the scab except it hadworked it's way up the hair so that it caught the brush when I brushedher.

My question is, is there a chance that is related to her eyes weeping?

I ask that because I took the hay out of Kiara's cage last night andalthough her eyes did seem to improve, tonight they were sort of wetagain but not nearly as bad as they have been.

Thanks and sorry, I'm just a concerned Mom!

Where the Scabias it would seem unlikely, but we are talking rabbithere . the things they get into is amazing.

I would more tend to think maybe amosquito bit her and shescaratched a bit much causing a tiny tear, if the scab is moving up the hairshafts it means the worse over .

The scab I see now is on the skin but I have seen scab like flakes working the way up the hair previously in the general area.

The mosquito bite is unlikely because it has not been warm enough for 2-3 weeks to have mosquitoes out.

I think I may try to cover the scab to see if she's continually scratching at it and making it worse.

Have you tried a little bacetracin onit? Might soften the scab and make it less itchy... my otherconcern is the flaking. Have you checked for mites? This would cause her to be itchy and continue the scratch/scabcycle. I'd clean the area first with a little Listerine (Iknow... don't laugh... it works!) and try a little bacetracin onit. If it doesn't show improvement within a day, I'd get avets opinion in case it's mites.

Can you take a picture of this scab?

My thought: possible flystrike???

It's not flystrike. But I will clean it andwatch it over th enext few days. I wont take her to the vet unless itdoesn't go away. I doubt mites because when she was at the vet onFriday, they said she looked to be in great condition except for hereyes.

Keep your eye on it. If it is flystrike, you will see the larva peek its head out at you.

OMG. I have such a hard time talking about this.Seeing that little jerk inside my baby was the worse sightever. :(
