Hi from Australia,

I have 2 gorgeous bunnies and they are my babies. I have a male Chinchilla Netherland Dwarf called Dusky and I recently adopted a new ginger girl, Apricot, from the RSPCA. I'm not quite sure of her breed yet.

They have taken the introduction to each other quite well, although Dusky does appear a little jealous if i play with Apricot before him. They are still in separate cages atm and have short visits together. She is Spayed, but he has not been neutered and ofcourse wont leave her alone. Was wondering if he will eventually calm down or would it be best just to have him neutered??

Thanks for anyone who can offer some advice.

Welcome From New Jersey, USA.

Congratulations on your rescues. Would love to see pics.

If it was me, I would neuter the male. It will cut down on the mounting, which your doe now spayed might take as aggression. And those hormones really rage at times in males and kills playtime for both of them. I think they would get along without the hormones and can enjoy themselves with play. And you will enjoy watching them as well.

Again, welcome, hope to chat more about our favorite subject here...our rabbits.

K :)

Unless Dusky is middle-aged & the hormones have settled down, I'd say he should be spayed. I'm guessing he's not anywhere near that age. He would settle down, but it'd be years.

Welcome to the RO forum. You probably will find some useful information in the library section.
