My white Satin doe jsut gave birth to three little pinkies yesterday. I have no idea what she was mated to, and I was just wondering, since they are "white" now, is there any chance they will get color when they get fur? Or is it like with most other breeds, if they are born white they stay that way? I haven't had Satins before. I know my Mom was hoping for a Siamese. :p

Some of the lighter colors will show white when born. My Siamese Satins were very light at birth (almost cream colored) and darkened up over the first week. But the points on the ears and face took a little longer.

Well, this is what they look like now.

AWWWWWW! (I love thebabies!) Give them a day or two and you'll have a better idea. As the fur comes in, you'll see if it has any tint to it. Don't be upset if they are all white.... not knowing what she was bred to leaves a lot of unanswered questions. (Was it even another Satin?)

I hope it was another Satin, it would be cool if they were purebred. That Satin fur is so pretty. Oh, one more question I was thinking about. I know that the Rex fur is a recessive gene, is the Satinized coat the same way?

They are cute! I didn't know you could have white or siamese/himalyan satins. I thought they could only be red/orange.

Official Satin colors are: black, blue, californian/himalayan, chinchilla, chocolate, copper, red, otter, siamese, white. My favorite is the siamese. :DThere are also Mini Satins, though those are a work in progress. Here is a link to a site that gives pics and descriptions of all the Satin colors. http://www.angelfire.com/tx5/doublehrabbits/satincolor.html

Thanks for the link. I had no idea that they were in that many colors. I guess its becuase they are a rare breed over on the Western coast of the U.s. I have only ever seen red ones.

Edit: Maybe it was Mini Satins that i saw instead. I love the siamese too! So beautiful!
