Sampson has officially out grown his small catsized litter box. He needs something else. He letme know that it was too small when he decided it was small enough topick up and throw across the cage. Oh, it's a lovely messthat I have to go clean up, I'm putting it off right now.LOL I have a bigger cat box, I'm wondering if I should trythat for him and give his to the girls when they come home.

What do the other big bunny owners use?

personally I wouldsuggest a tote , cut out toaccomodate his size andgradually increase the size ofthe cut out as he grows , andPray he doesnt get so big as tothrow the tote around lol .

He throws everything!! He's also a bigthief. His new favorite toy is a Ziploc container he stoleand now throws around his cage all day and night. Apparentlyhe doesn't feel that Mommy should be allowed to sleep.

We bought Tiny a round plastic thingy that isused to feed horses or something. It was in WalMart in thehorse section. I do like the tote idea and I may do that thisnext payday since Tiny is getting larger and hesometimes...um....misses. (He'd be so embarassed to hear me saythat). I'm just afraid the twits would see it as a new "freefor all" romp area! (oh wow...let's dig for buried treasureand see what the bunfather left for us today...).

:laugh:I have aKitten that does that samething , thankfully its only after the litter has beenchanged and fresh , , It go so oneday after cleaning litter bixesthat he decides thatOOOOhhhhhhhhh its anew toy , jumps in andstarts swooping and scoopinglitter everywhere , I cleaned it up 3times , chased him out 3 times, gave up and went and found the hood, geesh what bratsour animals can tend to be .

Hmmm...I think we are going to try the biggercat box first. His litter box is in a corner under a shelf, and I'm not sure a tote would fit under there. He always usesthat corner and he's a strange one, he likes to sit on the shelf topee. He chewed the cardboard there and so it falls into hisbox.

Jen,

I'm in the same boat. I'm presently using a cat litterbox, but Cali-Girl is quickly outgrowing it. Don't know what'snext. Maybe cutting down a storage-bin type of thing and thenputting plastic covering around it so that it doesn't cut her when shehops in and out. I'm also wondering about expanding hercage. Buck and I were brainstorming on that a few months ago.

Carolyn: Sampson's in need of a bigger cagetoo. He's going to get this huge dog kennel, but the problemis that in this house, it won't fit in my room and he doesn't do wellsleeping elsewhere.

The girls will get the same cage he's in right now built sometime thisweek before they come. Hopefully by the time they needsomething bigger, we'll have more room and they can use the other hugedog kennel or be spayed and bonded with Sampson.

Judy is hardly a flemish, but she does use a bigstorage bin as a litterbox because she digs like crazy! Ididn't have to cut an opening for her to get in and out, she just goesin over the top... It's about a foot tall. So youmight consider that. She tracks less mess in and out as well.

Vash uses a plastic storage container asa litter box. I drilled holes into the side then took aserrated knife and hacksaw to cut out the hole in one side. Then used a foot file and sandpaper to smooth out the edges.

Since he likes to sit and relax in his litter box, I'verecently had to cut the upper portion of the opening off so it is aU-shaped opening. He also likes to sling his litter boxaround (even this huge one - males for ya') so I drilled holes in eachside of the box and used elastic tie downs to attach to the sides ofhis cage. Here's a pic--

I also use a storage bin for Diva but I bought alow one that fits under a bed so she can easily hop in and out of itwithout me cutting a hole out. I also bought some chicken fencing andlaid that on top of the litter so her feet don't get dirty and shecan't dig out the litter. Works great so far and she weighs 22lbs so itshould be fine for other flemish.
