This last couple of weeks has been rough for ourfamily. We lost one of our 11 year old cats to kidney failure, and thenjust Wed. we lost our old beagle dog, Annie. She was dropped off in thefield behind our house nine years ago, and she was about 3-4 years oldthen. She was a real personality, and had been deaf as a post for thelast two years or so, so we had to be careful about touching herunexpectedly 'cause she would jump really badly. She has left a bighole in our lives, as any pet will after it is gone, and she will begreatly missed.
Here is the good part. Yesterday I happened to be browsing onlieand looked up our local shelter's website, just out of curiosity. Therewas a collie mix on there that was really pretty, and I showed mymother the pic. (My husband and I and our kids live right next door tomy parents.) So today our whole family, except for my Hubby who is outof town, packed up my dog Taz and drove out to the shelter. Well, as itturns out the collie was not good with kids, so that nixed that. However, there was a rat terrier, that caught my eye, so we brought himout to the outdoor pens where you can get to know a dog. The little guyis an owner surrender, about a year old, named Ace. He loved playingwith Taz, and the kids didn't seem to faze him, he put up with themyelling and folowing him around the yard with no problem. So my parentsfilled out a contract for him, and the shelter will call probably onMonday to let us know if we are approved. Then we will make him anappointment to get him neutered, the shelter people will drop him offat our vet's office, and we will pick him up after he comes out ofsurgery.
I wish I had a pic of him to post here, but for some reason he isn't ontheir website. Wish us luck, this guy is adorable! Oh, I will post acute pic of Taz and his best friend, Romeo, I think you guys will likeit. They both just came in from the rain, that's why Taz looksscraggly, LOL.
