Run Aways- Loose

Hi. Can anyone help me. My mom works for someone who has a deck and well there are two rabbits in a hole under the deck. THESES RABBITS ARE NOT MINE. We believe they are flemish giants that have gotten loose. Does any one have any idea how to get them besides a trap. We have a trap that will not hurt them, but are there any other ways it is cold and rainy here in Colorado so please any ideas?

depends on how tame they are, really. if they're well-socialized rabbits, a bit of good smelling fruit might lure them out. banana seems to be favorite of many bunns (you don't want to let them eat more than 2-3 1/8 inch slices each).

Snowed last night a little was down to 33`F at my place when I went to bed. I am getting kinda of worried because the lady my mom works for said they have been out there for about a week. We have put sunflower seeds and oats in the trap a common food that rabbits love at least ours.

Just checked the thermometer 26`F at my place. It is 7:48 am.

Try fruit? It will be warmer in their burrow, but I agree they need to get inside.

You might also want to cover the trap with a tarp so they feel like they are going into a sheltered place rather than seeing it, rabbits are smart and may have figured out it is a trap.

:yeahthat: Highly doubt that they got loose. Most likely some poophead turned them out.

Have you been able to get near them? Like close enough to talk to them and see if they'll come to you? I know they're probably scared but you might be able to spend a little time out there with them and maybe they'll start to trust you. Bring lots of treats.

Maybe try to put some hay out for them, if it snowed, they might not be able to forage properly for food since they're probably house rabbits that someone turned out.

Do you have animal control where you are? Call them and see if they could help you catch them. I don't know what you plan on doing with them after you catch them but they might give them to you if they get them?

My mom says we can not go over until Saturday. I know they have fur and all but snowed most of the day though little stuck stuck. Hopefully if they have not been caught we can get them by coaxing Saturday.

Now she says she won't go unless they are out,but the lady only saw them like 1 or2 times I think and waited hours on time just to see them. I do not know why she will not let me try to coax them out!

My mom wont go tonight so she basically is just leave them there until they will get in the trap. With the cold weather they will probably die. They have not gotten in the trap yet and probably won't. My mom likes animals but sometimes I know she does not like them as much as I do.

Sorry I have bot gotten back about the rabbit but we sure they are just wild rabbits a little bigger than most and the lady had no idea about rabbits and size it is big relief to know i worried about only wild rabbits that know how to live in the wild.
