Is it okay to let a rabbit roam outside for excercise? Obviously, it would be in a safe environment, in my backyard.

My main question is, can rabbits get fleas from roaming outside in the grass?

It's a possibility, yes.

I have a spray that I bought in my pet shop for €8.50.
It's a fly-strike spray, which prevents flies, bugs and other insects from living on your rabbits fur.
You spray it on every couple of days. I usually reapply it once a week. 6 sprays is what I use on my nethie/polish mix and my lop mix.

I would recommended checking your pet shop for one, they would most likely have a spray for rabbits/small animals if they sell rabbit(supplies) there.

Fleas don't tend to be attracted to rabbits the same way they are to dogs and cats, so the chance of your bunny getting fleas is probably lower than for other pets. Still, it's certainly not impossible.

I believe Revolution is a rabbit safe flea repellent and can be purchased from the vet. I would get meds from a vet because certain flea repellents are toxic to rabbits, and you want to make sure you get the dosage right.
