RIP server gerbils

is it just me or did someone let the server gerbils starve to death today? seems like RO was down for AGES, I was jonesing for a fix!

edit: though I see the new ones aren't particularly well-fed either, as the pages are still getting stuck "waiting" to go through after posting and I have to open a new tab and go back to the thread manually.

I know! I thought it was my internet! I'm glad it wasn't just me! I thought I was going nuts.
I've noticed a lot of multiple posts from a lot of people, I guess everything is going haywire!

that's from people multi-clicking when the page stalls out, I assume... as far as I can tell, it NEVER finishes loading after you click to submit a post even though it posts it instantly. I've seen it do this before; always goes away eventually.

Yup. Easiest thing to do if this happens is just click "ctrl + N" and then click back on the new page that opens and refresh to see if your post went through. They seem to be going through almost instantly but then the page you're currently on never finishes loading

Hey everyone. I just thought I would give some input. I also noticed today the forum being down due to a gateway error. This is probably due to the server and hosting company.

Currently I am in progress of migrating this forum to dedicated cloud servers with a new forum software. This is a daunting task as this forum software has been in supported for years.

There will probably be a 12-24 hour time frame from when I start the forum conversion process to when the new hardware and forum software is up and running. This has been a manual process and I have written a script to do most of the work. I still have to figure out how to transfer PMs. Currently it is around 3000 lines of code and growing.

After we convert we are planning on doing some upgrades. You can click the link in my signature to recommend things for the forum.

Do not panic. I will put out a notice in advance saying when the forum will go down and back up. After the upgrade we will be sending out an email to all users to inform them of the update and to stop by.

If you guys know anything about graphics or phpbb templates and would like to help the forum out just send me a PM.

If you have any questions related to the upgrade or things of that nature to post in this thread for now.

Thanks for letting us know I kinda figured there was something like that going on when I refreshed my page this morning and it timed out a couple times I'll do my best to be patient when it's time for another fix of cute bunnies!

ssd: looks like whatever was wrong with our server yesterday is going around - the other forum I frequent has been down for hours now!! (don't worry, I'm not really cheating on you guys - it's a sugar glider forum 'cause I'm gonna get me a pair of those cute little devils soon )

Actually, funny story... I was either going to get a hedgehog, sugar gliders, or a rabbit. There were no rescue hedgehogs or sugar gliders in my area... So that's how Teddy happened.
