Hi,

5days ago my rabbit gave birth to 8bunnies. This morning two had escaped the nest and were rather cold. One was barely moving but I placed it back in the nest and seems OK now, the other was not moving anymore but was not stiff either. He was not stone cold, so he either passed away very very shortly or is comatic. I placed him on the radiator to warm him up, but he is not responding, albeit being warm and floppier (rather than stiffer). I read once that grabbed on time, baby bunnies can be revived. How do you do it? I am not sure there is any hope for my little one, but in case it happen again...:cry2

Hi, I'm sorry but I wouldn't hold out much hope for the baby. This should probably be in the rabbitry and I can't really answer your question but

Wow. What about an emergency vet? I have heard of people warming them up in their bras but I am afraid this little guy is too far gone.

I had a 3 day old baby out of the nest box when I fed this morning. It was cold and unresponsive. I put it lukewarm water and gently massaged it's body and it came started moving after a couple of minutes. I waited until it was moving well and then wrapped it in a warm towel out of the dryer. After it was totally warm I put it back in the nest box and it was fine tonight when I did chores.

I have put them in my bra before to warm them up while doing chores and I've even brought some in and snuggled them up with me and my dog by the woodstove (Husky lab furnace dog) and warmed them if i had to. Bu tif it's been that long, he probably is gone. I found with the few that I have that i was able to revive they couldn't have been there long, but a few that i've tried and didn't make it, had been out too long. It's a tought hard process, but *hugs* if you need it, we're here for you

Thank you for all your replies. Nature can be cruel but she knows best. I am glas the other bunny was saved for now, he is smaller than the rest so I will keep an eye on him...
