Hope it is okay for me to post this here. I saw this ad on Petfinder today. This is over 7 hours away from me, so I'm not able to help out, but hope someone else may be able to.

Hello to everyone, Please read and see if there is anything you can do to help prevent these two rabbits from being unnecessarily destroyed. THE SITUATION Their owner has entered an isolated, 12-month drug rehab program after a suicide attempt, he is most likely facing criminal charges when he is released, and a jail sentence if convicted. He has told his elderly mother to essentially liquidate his few possessions from his small Nyack apartment, including his 2 pet rabbits! The apartment is in the process of eviction proceedings, so we only have until this Friday, February 29th, to find a fostering location for them, or they will be tossed to the curb like so much trash. She has no ability or interest in fostering the rabbits herself and told me she was already looking for places to get them euthanized, I asked her to please wait until I was able to investigate rescue options in the area. The rabbits will remain in the Nyack apartment until they are fostered or evicted and euthanized. Unfortunately, I personally have zero options for fostering them myself, and I don't have any knowledge of how to care for rabbits. THE RABBITS They are adults, at least 2 years old, probably older. His mother thinks they are both males, but is not certain. I have no idea if they have been neutered or what veterinary care the have had or need. Overall, they appear to be in good health and do not seem traumatized (I was able to pet them without them panicking, but I don't know how they would respond to being picked up). They have litter boxes and appear to use them. It's probable that I can find out more detailed information regarding their health & history, but not before this friday. So for right now, all we know is what we know. Whomever takes custody of them can have both cages, both carriers, their "run-around" fencing, and all the other pieces of equipment (bowls, litter boxes, water bottles, etc) that are needed to care for them, as shown in the picture below. THE PROBLEM(S) I'm willing to assist in whatever capacity I can, by arraigning pickup, or helping move the rabbits to another location, however I commute daily and will only be available after 7:00 pm at night. I can meet whomever at the apartment after that time every night this week. I can provide pictures - please email me and I will do so. I know that every rescue organization I'm aware of is full to capacity, but in this case, there are no other options for these rabbits, if they are not fostered before Friday, Feb 29th, they will be destroyed. Though the rescue organizations are full, they have extended their resources to research, interview and hopefully approve everyone who's interested in adopting these animals. THE HOPE I'd really like to see these rabbits have a fresh start in a healthy, happy situation rather then end up euthanized or worse. I'd be appreciative of any assistance you can render, or any options you can offer. Please reply as soon as you can, email is best. Please remember these rabbits only have until Friday, Feb 29th. Thank you for any consideration you offer.
