Hi guys,
I'm continuing to pull bunnies from AWL and elsewhere to get them to no-kill shelters, rescues, and homes. I continue to be amazed at the generosity and support I've received for these missions, but space has run out for even little bunnies, let alone larger ones. I'm posting today on behalf of one special bun who has caught my eye, and has a much lower-than-usual chance of finding safe harbor.
According to her intake paperwork, "Daisy" is three years old. Then again, her former caretakers thought she was male despite a clear dewlap (and subsequent under the tail check while at the shelter), so take that information with a grain of salt. Due to an unfortunate liason right there on the adoption floor that proved love knows no bounds (both parties broke out of their secure cages AND Daisy was willing to overlook that He was the only truly ugly rabbit I've ever seen) she has been, or will shortly be, emergency spayed. Based on what I was told, she was a house rabbit whose owners were truly heartbroken to give her up but felt they had to. Given how many foreclosure rabbits have been coming through, I'm guessing it's that or a similar situation.
She's somewhat unusual in appearance and courtesy of some links sent by Treasured Friend, I believe she's either part Lilac or perhaps even a non-show quality purebred. She's certainly the right size and, if my three day old memory serves, shape. Whatever her background, she's a striking girl and I feel that she'd be a great pet for someone willing to take a chance on her.
AWL has a strict, posted no cameras policy but I will be happy to field any questions and take another closer look at her when I return on Wednesday. If you're not local but are willing to commit, I can pull her and get her on a train if you can arrange something. Unfortunately, due to my mother's allergies, she can't be housed here for any appreciable amount of time.
