This email is an urgent post from ourSanta Cruz County areaRabbit advocate. She is seeking rescue on three adult rabbits that were confiscated in a raid a few days ago they have no chance to live without rescue. They were living in very poor conditions -kept as food, and they were not even being provided with any food /water or care. They survived. Both females are pregnant. Your rescue support will assure the females are spayed and we can then transport them your way or to your nearest foster site. compassion adoptions are also available.
We can cover the spay here if you can rescue - Please help them if you can.The Haven is bursting full. Still holding three shows per month and recruiting fosters like mad in Santa Cruz and silicon valley area. Thank you so muchfor thinking of them and reading the message below Look at their pictures. There must be an answer besides having these rabbits killed. They deserve kindness at last. The shelteris very serious about euthanizing. I would much rather know than not- Some shelters will not allow us to report if a rabbit is due to be euthanized. I think it is critical that we all know how dire the circumstances are. These rabbit are extremely gentle. They deserve a life. There has to be someone out there who will look into their eyes and see the hope and help them make it out of this shelter - They have only until Monday -
Pending rescue is fine - then the spay will proceed. I will help transport to out of area places.

These bunnies were rescued from a neglect situation by our animal control officer. He even cited them which is not very common for them to do. They were meat rabbits living loose in the backyard. The owner was observed picking them up by the ears so I suspect they have never had a day of kindness in their lives. Even if we can not get rescue, their last days will be their best and they will not be tortured any more. There are 3 black adult females, a brown male, and a 3-4week old baby. Based on injuries on one we had to euthanize last week, I suspectpredators controlled the populationatthis house. Overall they are healthy, and even use their litterboxes, but the adults are not very social. They need rescue by Monday at 5pm. If getting rescued, I think we should be able to get the adultsspayed/neutered.
