Hey guys, I'm part of a team for the Queensbury, NY Relay for life and we also walk the Greenwich, NY walk the following weekend. It's a bit rough two 12 hour walks, but I manage since I work 3rd shift normally anyway. (Walk's from 7 pm to 7 am)

Any idea of fund raising events or ideas? I'm in the middle of a very small town that supports two of these walks so asking around doesn't help and my regular job already supports it's own team but I don't walk with them, I don't know enough of them to walk with them, so my buddy, Rachel(whom I also raise rabbits and ride horses with) starts her own team in honor of her mother(Breast Cancer) and we walk that way.

Ideas? Suggestions? Last year I donated all my profits from my spring babies to it, but I haven't had any sales this year.

Good for you to do the walk. When are you doing it?

We have one of those walksin our city every year. This year my youngest son has joined a team. If you sponsor him, you can get a tax receipt. :)

My oldest son had his head shaved one year to raise money.

letters, car washes, bake sales, e-mails.........i do letters every year for the JDRF walk and that works really well. i raised over $1400 with letters this year :). good luck with it!

After the success we had with Mercy (my mini horse) giving kisses at the Lollypop Farm telethon, we are doing the Victor, NY Relay for Life in July. For some reason, people like giving money for horse kisses.

She also paints pictures with her nose to raise funds - not sure if I will have her do that - I will see her mood at our next two volunteer events.

That's so great of you to take part in Relay!
I Relayed here at Cornell just a few weeks ago. We had a great time and raised over $215,000 together with Ithaca College.
I sent out a lot of emails, personally, to do my fundraising.

also-use social websites like forums, face book, myspace, twitter, etc to get people you may not know in real life to donate to you. i post about my walk every year on here and have gotten, on average, $100+!

I'd try a bulk e-mail explaining your cause etc and a bank account number that you could set up specifically for donations then asking people to foward it on. Even asking for a dollar, a guy can't remember details but needed money for a charity one e-mail out which was fowarded all over the world, over 4000+ people donated 1 dollar or more so it all ads up. Good luck for your relay, I did it 2 years back rained non stop but it was great!

eh, we're arranging a bake sale right now. I may not be the best baker/cheif in the world but i can make some sweet little cookies.
I walked one night in the rain, until about 1 am then it rolled into a thunderstorm. at that point we took off because our team captian is terrified of thunderstorms. I had a rain suit and wasn't afraid of getting wet but i was the driver and if we hadn't of left she would have gone crazy on me.

The only people i have emails for are my family(which either donates in their area or already has through me) and a couple of friends, but they're also doing Relay with me. I'm not exactly the most social person, i've been told that I'm a sweatheart but in reality i'm a bit shy and not the friendliest of people.
