I'm closing on my refi tomorrow and my mortgage broker just called me today all frantic saying I had to fax him some more docs. I had to run home at 12:30 pm and explain to my boss why I had to leave. He was ok with it but because it was off rush hour, my regular transportation wasn't running. I spent an extra $15 to get home to fax him lousy documents. Grr!

This better go well tomorrow or I'm not gonna be happy!!!!!

When I financed my home five years ago the same think happened. I was approved, and then the day before closing they were demanding more documentation. I think they do it on purpose!

Well, it went as well as I'd hoped. We were done in about 90 minutes. I think I have made a pretty good deal on this refi. Not only have I shortened my term from 30 (7 year adjustable) to 15 years (fixed), I lowered my rate! And I still save on my monthly payment as compared to before. I'm thrilled, actually! I can be mortgage-free by the time I'm 41 - which is not too bad right? I'll probably with in some horrifying debt from putting kids (nonexistent for now) through school, but that's a whole other thing I have time before I get into LOL

WHOO HOO! Go me!:biggrin2:

So I co-own with my parents on this property and near the end of closing, my dad, I have no idea why or how, walked himself straight into the glass of the conference room. He thought it was the door, but it was a floor to ceiling glass. His glasses cut into his eyebrow and immediately started bleeding. The glass wall nor his glasses shattered, but either his glassesframe or the edge of thelense cut into him about an inch across, not sure how deep.He said it didn't hurt, and it eventually started to sting. I gave him some advil to help with the inflammation and stinging. Then 20 minutes later it started to swell. 40 minutes later it's swollen up so bad that he couldn't see out of his left eye anymore. And the bleeding hadn't stopped. We got him an ice pack and bandages and antibiotic cream but eventually he said his vision was going blurry and that's when we were like ok you're going to the doctor. We live in opposite directions and my mom insisted I go home. She took him to the doctor and I'm waiting to hear how it went. Yeeks. What a calamity :(

Haha.....talk about a painful closing! I'm glad it went well otherwise. It's awesome that you can own your own home by the time you are 41. I didn't buy my first home until I was 46. It will be paid in full in 12/09 - and I will be 51. I can't wait for my mortgage burning party!!!!!

Congratulations on the refinance, that's awesome!

I'm 34, and we just bought our home early this year, so I've got a loooooong way to go until we actually own it. We got a good rate, though, we've been paying extra every month, and plan on paying one extra payment each year (we've already done our extra for this year). We're hoping that will help us own it much sooner than 29.5 years from now!

I hope your dad is ok!

The doc sent my dad to the ER. They gave him 4 stitches and sent him to optometry to make sure nothing happened to his eye. She says he can't open his eye at all and it's really swollen, even worse than when I saw him. I can't believe how badly he rammed himself into that glass!!! Honestly it didn't look that bad at first but when I saw it start swelling I had a bad feeling. It stopped bleeding after the stitches were in.

That stinks about your dad! That sounds like something I would do!

lol sadly it sounds like something I could potentially do too. I have all kinds of bruises on my body from "mysterious" bumps :?
