Well I have a close friend who has a red eared slider (turtle) that she adores, spoils, talks to and treats the same way we treat our buns. Nimbus is her heart and soul. Well, her mother is getting very sick. She has multiple problems going on at the same time and my friend has decided to move back home to Virginia to go help her mother out while she was still around.
The only thing is, she does not want to have Nimbus endure the 3000 miles journey from California to Virginia. The most she would willingly move him is 600 miles no matter how much research I did for her to show her that he'll be alright with special care. Now, I'm not that big a turtle fan. But just watching her interact with him shows that she loves him as much as I love my animals. I've been trying to do some research, to see if I have what it takes to be able to take Nimbus in, because honestly, she has no other friends in California besides some coworkers and boyfriend and she would rather have someone she knows keep him so she could keep in contact.
Now long post made longer, there's only so much that reading up on "turtle care" would teach me. I was wondering if any of you had red eared sliders where I could get a realistic idea on the time and care I would need for him if I was to propose the idea to my friend. She has no idea what I'm doing because I would hate to bring it up if I couldn't handle it.
