Thought I'd share this shake recipe I got from a fellow bunny lover.

THE BUNNY POWER SHAKE

2 tablespoons rabbit pellets
2 tablespoons plain yogurt (no flavoring)
2 tablespoons Metamucil
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons pineapple juice
1 can Ensure or Boost - vanilla flavor

Blend all ingredients in a blender with enough water to thin
for feeding with a syringe.

Administer by syringe - approx. 12cc twice a day for 2-3 days
~For Guinea Pigs replace rabbit pellet food for guinea pig pelleted food~

I would never give my rabbit a dairy product. The so=called yogurt bits in some teats are really chemicals rather than real yogurt, which in a strange way is better than the real thing.

Wouldn't it be better to remove the yogurt and replace the ensure with pedialyte?

If I don't have any critical care around I've always just soaked some pelletsin pedialyte or watered down apple juice(since I have this around more). Seems to work and I don't like adding new things to his diet if his tummy is already acting up.

---please take no offense,,--sometimes when we share we learn,--dairy products were once thought to help the gi-tract of rabbits,,--poor little guys didnot fair well ,,--please use probotics (non dairy)-like those powdered and mixable purchased from farm supply store or even walmart,etc.--remember rabbits are strictly herbivores-(grass eaters)--sincerely james waller--:cooking::bunny19:yahoo:
