When we adopted Jubin from the Humane League, we were informed that she was litter trained by the previous owner, but she had not used one since she was brought in ( about 3 months ) because she was sharing a cage with another Bunny. Then when we brought her home, she was in a temporary medium size cage which was big enough for her but not for a litter box, so she went another 3 months without it. We now updated her home to a 6 foot long 4 wide foot home. ( We call it her own condo as it takes up about a third of my bedroom. ) So now we have added in a litter box for her to use. While she has taken to the new space wonderfully and loves all the extra room, she is not using her litter box. Where I didn't mind not having her not using it in the smaller home because there was less bedding to change, now it is a different story, because there is so much more and I would like to lessen or even eliminate the use of bedding in her condo. With it being a wire condo, it also becomes messy for my room when she starts to dig or hop around.
She has designated one specific corner to do her business, and I read that I should just begin placing her box there. I did that, and she moved it right out of her spot. Then I read I should try putting in some of her grass and her droppings in to entice and encourage her to use the box. But that hasn't worked either. S,o now, I ask anyone here if there are some tricks or tips to re-train JuJu Bean so she can begin using her box again. Any help is greatly welcomed and appreciated!

Thank you!

I start with 3 or 4 litter boxes in a pen, and put hay in all of them. Move them around as needed, whenever she pee's, clean it up with a tissue and put the tissue in the litter box (not all the time, of course, just a couple). Clean up the stray poops as often as you can and put them in the litter boxes, not the trash. I even put a bowl of pellets in the litterbox for Lady because she's young still and will poop where-ever she eats.

ETA since she's moving it, I'd either add a couple more boxes to pin it in, get a larger box, or try a different litter ( I use Cellsorb Plus pellets, but many many people are happy with those stove wood chips)

I do keep it in the same spot she normally goes in and I add the hay, but she moves the pan and eats the hay. But I will try adding more pans, pinning them down and maybe changing the litter. But I do put her poops in there, but I haven't tried the tissue idea. I will definitely try that. Thank you!

I have 3 litterboxes in Layla's cage, with the main one she goes in containing her food bowl as well. I have one of the large sifting litterboxes and use it mainly for hay, but put some litter pellets in the bottom part in case she decides to pee in there. Then I have another one, a corner one, set up on her upper level in case she decides she has to go while up there. She's only 9 weeks old so she's not very reliable with the pottying, especially not with the poos. Thankfully she pees 100% in the boxes when they're present. Last night I was cleaning all of her litterboxes at the same time and she ran into the cage, couldn't find them, then looked at me and peed on my carpet.. I swear, she's such a stinker!
