I owned rats for the last 4 years, of course in that time we had to treat a few tumors, illnesses etc.

I trust this vet and I know they treat exotics the owner ( which is who I see) is trained with various exotics. He has done tumor removals for me as well as spays and neuters.

I contacted them about having my rabbit spayed. I still need to ask a few more questions I only got a quote but what do you think of using a vet you have previously used for rats for a new rabbit?

btw I do know they are very different animals

Find out how many rabbits he treats. Typically, you would go to an exotics vet for rabbits, but you want to be assured that he's comfortable and experienced working on rabbits. We actually go to a dog/cat vet, only because they have one experienced vet there who knows rabbits; otherwise, we'd be going somewhere else.

That's among the questions I will be asking. I have a list I found online to ask.

rats are considered exotics so he is actually an exotics vet, the clinic sees cats and dogs as well but I don't know that he personally does.
