Greetings Rabbit Fanciers! :)

Regardless of whether you bred the rabbit and sold it, or you rescuedit and it had won awards before you adopted it, let's see thosepictures.

Please tell us the Winner's breed with the picture.

Thanks. :)

(Of course all of our rabbits should have awards for their beauty, shine, and character, but I want to see the one's that competed and wonribbons.)

:)

Thanks Dwarf_Angel! No need to post theaward pictures. You must have abookshelffull,at least, of awards. The latest award wasquite unique. Never saw one like that. I just loveDakota. I realize he's got an edge to him, but that'sprobably why I like him so much. Give him a big kiss forme.

I'm glad you included the other babies you've won awards for. They don't look half as cranky as our Dear Dakota.

Bossy is adorable and his color is so pretty, Lanna. What's his breed?

This is Dajeti2's Giant Flemish, Apollo, that won Best in Breed (BOB)and Best in Show(BOS) this past summer. She adoptedhim from a breeder.

Maxie had two BOS wins prior to developing a couple of small freckleson his nose, which disqualified him from showing ever again, so hemissed his grand championship by one award. He was ever theham, though, and loved all the attention he got whenI"packed" him around with me.

Oh My!

We certainly have Beauties!

Can someone please explain to me the "Leg" Awards?

Many thanks - I know to most it's a simple question.

-Carolyn

A "leg" paper is awarded to a rabbit with a win that meets the following requirements:

There are a minimum of 3 exhibitors and 5 rabbits.

A rabbit needs three legs to be awarded a Grand Championcertificate. At least one of the wins must be as a senior orintermediate and the wins must be under at least 2 different judges.

The final requirement for a Grand Champion certificate is that a rabbitmust be registered. If it is not eligible for registrationfor any reason, it could have many "legs" but may never be able toobtain a Grand Champion certificate.

Pam

Pam,

I think Maxie had 2 legs, what does that mean?

How many legs can a rabbit win?

-Carolyn

A rabbit can win an infinite number of legs, but can only be awarded one Grand Champion certificate.

Buck had mentioned that Maxie had won "Best Opposite Sex of Breed"twice. Those wins met the requirements for a legcertificate. Only 1 certificate is awarded pershow. For example, a rabbit winning its class, Best ofVariety, Best of Breed and Best In Show at the same show would only beawarded one leg.

If Maxie had one another leg, he would have been eligible to apply fora Grand Champion certificate, if he was eligible forregistration. Rabbits are carefully inspected during theregistration process. There are times when a rabbit has manylegs, but a disqualification that has gone unnoticed by the judgesdeems the rabbit ineligible for registration, therefore it cannotacquire a GC certificate.

Pam

Pam,

So Maxie was one 'leg' away from being certifiable as a Grand Champion?

A rabbit must have 3 legs to register for a Grand Champion?

Correct (As long as Maxie was eligible for registration). Arabbit is not automatically a Grand Champion with the win of a 3rd leg-- they must pass registration also.

I was sitting thinking today about this thread.Carolyn, I realized I gave you the wrong name for the buck you like. His name is Cookiy's Indian Outlaw. Cookiy's Dakota is my young juniorbuck. I also said that Cookiy's Indian Outlaw was just a senior buck. Iwas wrong about that too LOL! He is still 5 months old and won't turnsenior till the end of the month!

I guess thats what I get for not looking stuff up before blapping LOL!
