Hey guys!

I was thinking of getting Maisie a buddy to live in her cage with her, but I know I can't get her another bun yet. She just seems so bored (even with us having the cage open all day.) Is there something else like a chinchilla or a ferret that can live with her? Do they get along?

Thanks, guys! :)

OK, wait a minute...I just found out ferrets EAT rabbits!! EEK!!:shock: I had no idea...please excuse my question...and now check this one out...

Wow...lol...

Maybe I'm just not used to her sleeping patterns yet? She does have a lot of different toys, and she does play at times, but I also see her sleeping a lot. My husband mentioned that she seems to play a lot...so maybe it's just me...

Like I said, we leave the door to her cage most of the day, but she doesn't come out very often. I sit near her cage most of that time to play with her, too, but she seems to still be getting used to our apartment (we moved her a couple weeks ago), as she's not QUITE ready to just hop around freely. Of course, add to that the fact that she and our two kitties are still getting used to each other, and I'm sure all combined, she's doing fine. I think I'm just thinking too much about it. Lol...

Right now, the toys she has include:
-red plastic ball
-large soda pop box with three holes that she loves to race through
-pine cone (that she loves to eat and flip around)
-Capri Sun box that she likes to tunnel and dig in
-recycled paper drink holder (from McDonalds...no dyes...just natural) that she likes to flip around
-a cleaned out playdough holder that she loves to throw around
-and of course, ME when she's out of her cage...lol

When I open her cage door, she either sleeps most of the time, or investigates SOME of the floor outside her cage, or plays ball with me, or runs and binkies all around her cage in response to playtime or nosebumps with me.

What do you think? Sound good?

Maybe I'm just being an overly-worried Bunny Mom...

I wouldn't suggest it. A cagemate would need to have similar biological needs and a similar temperament. Chinchillas have a different diet and different needs. Ferrets are predators and I don't know if I'd trust them in the same room with a rabbit, much less a cage. It used to be common to have guinea pigs in with rabbits, but guinea pigs have different nutritional needs plus rabbits have been known to hurt them accidently.

I'm not trying to shoot you down, but it's really not a good idea to house rabbits with other species. Just wait a few months until she's spayed, and then you can adopt a friend for her.:)

Ok...thanks for letting me know. Ithink I'm just still adjusting to her sleeping habits. Thankyou for the encouragement! :D

I think Maisie is fine. My two sleep alot duringthe day, even when the cage is open. I like to interpret that asmeaning that they are content. However, they are very active from 6-10am and 6-9 pm.

Ok...thanks for letting me know. Good to know things are ok. :) *sigh of relief*

Lucky Delilah is active as you said in the am when I get up and then at 11pm -2am or so UGH.

Hey doesn't Maise play with the cats now? She probably is fine. It'sfun to find new things for them to play with, like boxes etc.

Nope, she's not playing with the catsyet. She's still pretty shy about being aroundthem. It's funny...she's very brave...yet shy.Lol...

She invites them to play...but inside her cage, so they're not quitewilling to play in there, as they're sure they'll get introuble. I just worry about them being in so small a spacewith a bunny!
