Hi...I'm the "rabbit lady" who volunteers with Lissa in La Crosse. I'm glad that she showed everyone a couple of the darling rabbits that we have at the humane society in La Crosse. Unfortunately, they almost never get adopted!. We are desperately asking everyone who has room for another rabbit to consider our bunnies. The humane society is really strict so only really good pet owners can adopt; all bunny lovers can see two on petfinder and also posted by Lissa yesterday. We are getting a 5 month old Holland lop today. I haven't seen him yet but he is from a breeder, supposedly gorgeous yet another throw-away bunny. Please help these helpless little guys Prince, Buck, Spunky and our new little bunnies. :(

Greetings and Welcome to the forum!!

Our "bunnie room" is currently at full capacity with 8 bunnies. We'll keep our ears open for any prospects, though.

:DHi Lissa and everyone else!!!! Lissa....I took Buck, Spunky, and Prince in their carriers to Petco today from 4pm. to 630pm. The store set up a long table in the front and I placed the carriers on the table. Everyone entering the store could see them. This is the 1st time I did this (except one hour with Heather). The store wasn't crowded because it was snowing but I took turns holding each one on my lap they behaved like sweet little angels. People did come over and talk to me and look at them so I consider that progress. I told people to remember the humane society and the other forgotten bunnies there. Lissa...the little one with the hard tummy is gone :( and we got in two new ones a stray (black with a white nose deja vu) and the little minilop. The minilop looks like Babette except much younger and its a male. He bit me harder than any bunny ever has but he is exremely frightened and hasn't been handled much. We were allowed to move 2 rabbits into the cat adoption room yesterday..this is great progress. Spunky and Prince are in the cat room. I appreciate that people have responded to us on this site. In the past I have made desperate attempts to find no-kill good shelters for our bunnies but I usually run into a brick wall; everyone always has too many bunnies. WHRS took one from Coulee Region last summer but they haven't been able to since. I am happy that some people can do transport as that is my weakest area. Now I will talk about my bunnies at home......Babette 5yr old minilop, Beau 2yr. old brown mini-lop and Babette's lover, Jacques ? 3-4 yrs. tiny lop, fragile and quiet, Rudy (Shelter rescue) a big whitish grey mix, and my new rescue Peewee who is so happy to have come home with me 24 hrs. before euthanasia. I could go on and on but am glad that Lissa introduced me to this site......Lissa I will see you Sat.:)........Oh My God I forgot Joey..he is a rescue, steel grey mix; he has a lot of emotional problems which I think may be due to having been mishandled by kids. He hisses and bites and is distrustful of hands but I still love him as he needs help adjusting.

Hi and welcome Angie, I really hope you andLissa find homes for these bubs. They all are cute and if I had roomand space I would have taken in a few as a foster until find greathomes. Good Luck guys

SweetPea who is MeatHead is a flemish giant. Hewas supposed to be a she. So you know everyone here on this forum callshim Micheal, MH or SweetPea so you know who is who. I have a homethread called MeatHead's Home thread.

I like Sweet Pea better than meathead..he's too cute to be meathead but it is different. I found my first rabbit in Lincoln Park in Chicago (my hometown). I didn't know a thing about rabbits including how to sex one. I named her Sheba and didn't find out for a long time that Sheba was a heba. By that time I just couldn't change the name ;I couldn't really even think of that rabbit as being a"he". I just kind of pretended that I had a female rabbit except when I went to the vet and had to say "he". As i learned more about rabbits I realized the importance of neutering and spaying .

Thank you for that info Maureen. Youare doing such a good job with these bunnies. I wish I hadmore time to help you.

Hi Lissa...Recently I am there "too" much for my own liking but I want them adopted. Eventually I would just like to work on getting them into the stores...(when the Petco grant materializes 3 will live at Petco). I am not going today because I have been there so much this week. By the way... Buffy is back from Michele's andMichele is going to take the little brown male or the mini-lop home to foster.

jordiwes I appreciate the compliment. Your bunny looks exactly like my 5 yr. old mini-lop Babette!!! Buck HAS to be adopted. He is extemely outgoing and tame.

Angie,

Lissa told me how you put so many hours into volunteering at the shelter for the bunnies.

I truly hope you feel welcome here as I have the utmost admiration and appreciation for someone of your devotion to rabbits.

I'm so glad you're amongst us.

:bunnydance:Thanks so much Carolyn. I am driven to help the bunnies because otherthan a very few people there they are considered less important than the dogs and cats.(Lissa and I are changing that) Bunnies are the most vulnerable because they can't bark and meow "I have no water" I know I have made the rabbits more comfortable in the shelter since I've been there but the real task ahead is getting them adopted. I have 6 bunnies of my own at home...my whole life is hay, pellets and bunny poop but I love them so much. I should have been on this site a looong time ago.
