i was having some bonding troubles and i emailed someone from the rabbit resuce in nashville to help me. she ended up just giving me her number and we have been talking pretty well daily about the bonding sessions. shes been so helpful and gave me tons of tips. alot of things she told me were difrent from what i read, but it make since and she has been bonding bunnies for many years. and she knows my situation so she gives me bonding tips that fit it well.

anyway, they are doing good. no hair pulling!! they are smelling each other without being mean. the pretty well ignore each other. they eat together and i think i have caught them trying to groom through the cage bars. they are looking very relaxed together and that nice lady i have been talking to, and i believe if everything still goes well i can have them in non nuetral terriory next month (and thats adding a couple of weeks to it)

i havent talked to her where i should go from there. when i know they can be caged together, etc but i know within the next few months its pretty well garenteed.

i am planning on making a cage before then with all new NIC cubes, and acessories (no bunny smells would be on any of it)

any ideas on a two rabbit cage? what size to i need? Alex is not even 2lbs and Ryo is around 7. i am pretty sure i want a condo style cage with maybe three stories, but i have also thought about just making a large pen. the large pen will take up lots more room than the condo style cage, wouldnt it??

how many boxes of NIC cubes would you by to make the cage if you were me??

Well then say a minimum of 1 square foot per poung of rabbit, you have a 9 pounds of rabbit there so I say nothing smaller than 5' by 2'. Remember, bigger is better! And even if you go up, it's probably best to keep the general size of each level to 5' by 2' or bigger.

I could have said 3' by 3' I guess but I've found that with my rabbits the longer it is the better. They love to run in long lines instead of circles.

thanks. right now seperately both of my rabbit cages are two cubes high, three long and two wide.

i was thinking of just sorta stacking the cages, and adding another level so they can go up and down the levels better.

maybe even make a nice floor for it and put it on wheels or something

MBB, that's a neat way of figuring out cage size. Where did you get that from? If there was a website, I'd like to put it in the Bunny 101 cage thread.:)

My old NIC cage was 4x2 grids with a shelf, and that was a nice size. It was still easy to clean, which I think 3 grids wide might be hard. 4x2 with multiple levels would probably be a good cage for them.

I really like my pens, which are about 4x5 grids. Long is nice, but wide fits lots of toys in it so there are benefits to both. But if you want to go up, you need a thinner base so you can reach everything to clean and to get a possibly reluctant, scared rabbit out in an emergency.

when i was bonding my two i divided our big cage down the middle..and it really helped them being right beside each other. i could tell that they got along better after being beside each other like that..

my rabbits have already been living just thee inches apart from each other for over four months now peapoo.

a circle pen is sounding nice the more i think about it! i could actually sit in there with them

I didn't mean long and skinny, I just meant longer than it iswide. I find anything wider then 2'6" is hard to reach the back with but with a big door it's easier.

My hutch for my 7.5 lbs and 4.5 lbs rabbit (total = 12 lbs) is 8' by 2'6" so I made sure there was extra!
