i found this recipe online and I was wondering if it was okay. I know it is probbly fattening but in small quantiies is it okay? I am bsaking thing for blessing of the animals at our church so I was just wondering!
Ingredients:
1 small carrot, pureed
1/2 banana, mashed until creamy
1 tsp. honey
1/4 cup rabbit pellets, ground finely in a coffee grinder
1/4 cup whole wheat flour

Directions:

Mix pureed carrot, banana and honey in a medium sized bowl. Add pellet powder and whole wheat flour. Mix until blended. Knead in your hands for 1-2 minutes. Roll out the dough in 1/8"- 1/4" thick layers between sheets of plastic wrap. Cut into small cookies about 3/4". You can use regular cookie cutters to make cute shapes.
Place cut shapes onto a parchment paper covered cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes (check to make sure they are not browning too much). Turn off the heat and let the cookies sit in the warm oven for an hour or so. Once cooled completely, remove and give to your bunnies. Bag whatever is left for later use.

Hey!

I usually don't use the flour or the honey.. too starchy and too sugary. Try instead of the flour, adding a pinch of oats or so, and a bit of canned pumpkin to make it a bit healthier? That's how I usually make them, and my guys just adore them :).

I used to have a recipe for guinea pig and rabbit treats somewhere, will go and try to find it as I need to make up more for the gp's anyway!

I use a similar recipe, with some variation. The amounts aren't exact and I use applesauce or packaged fruit instead of fresh.

1/4 cup apple sauce (or 1 apple, or fruit/veggie of your choice)
1/4 cup ground pellets
1/4 cup ground oatmeal
1/4 ground hay (the stuff at the bottom of a bag can work too)

Mix all the ingredients together until it is fairly thick. Roll out between plastic wrap or waxed paper. Rub on extra pellets to absorb extra moisture on both sides. Bake for 30min at 350F, turn over and bake for 30 min. Let cool in over that is off.
Break into small pieces.
