Hello!
As some of you might know, about a week ago I found a small white bunny in a field and brought it home. Turned out to be female! I tried to find the original home, but still no luck, so we are keeping her. We named her Chive.

To my disbelief as I was walking my dogs today through that same field...BAM another white rabbit! I couldn't believe it. It came RIGHT up to me, let me pet it even though my dogs were barking at it. So I ran my dogs home and got my small dog carrier, and now I have 2 unknown white rabbits... this one is also female and I believe she is full grown. 2 pounds! No name as of yet, I already put an ad up looking for her owners. She has points and red eyes.

Opinions on breeds and names for the new one? First 2 are Chive. Sorry for the awful pictures of the new girl!

Wow. Imagine the balls on some people. Thinking these will survive on their own, dumped animals break my heart. Congrats on them! They're gorgeous. Chive seems to be a baby, so I would withhold veggies for now. I would guess lionhead x hottot. The second one, I would say dwarf or dwarf mix in lilca himalayan (maybe?).

And may I ask how you are so certain on their gender? I know it would take me hours and days to find out for sure, with the second opinion of a vet lol

Thanks! I already stopped the veggies after reading about it and asking on here :)

I googled it, watched a million you tube videos. I am 90% sure of their genders! Especially the larger one. Chive, not so much, but she has a nice gender neutral name! I was definitely thinking that Chive was a Lionhead mix and hottot came into mind with her coloring and little ears. As for the new girl I will definitely have to google a Himalayan!

Oh that's good then! I didn't really have the internet to look up sexing vidoes when I got Acacia 6+ years ago lol I just knew females have slits and males have a hole. But then I found out how slight the difference is! lol

I doubt the adult is a himalayan breed, but her color sure brings to mind lilac pointed himalayan from google. Oh wait.. Maybe she could be. Idek breeds!!

I really don't know breeds either! Haha. Just Holland Lops, Hottots, and Rex Rabbits and of course Flemish Giants.

I have no idea how old she is, so she could possibly have more growing to do! I won't know her age until I can afford to take her to the vets, possibly in a month or so. She is SO friendly!

The first one is definitely a double maned lionhead. It is not mixed with a hotot. The color is a broken pattern with sparing color markings.

Do you have any better pictures of the second one? On my phone it's hard to tell anything. The color is definitely Himalayan but her face/ears and body do not tell me the Himalayan breed. Just the color.

Himmies and californians both have those kinds of markings, but calis get much bigger. I'm not too familiar with the breeds though, so I can't tell you more than that. If you can post a little bit better pic of the second one, from the side too, that might help a little more with breed id.

That's so great that you are taking care of these poor little buns. They picked the right person to find them. You may need to start avoiding that field if you don't want to end up with any more rabbits :)

there are LOTS of pointed breeds. This looks to be a smallish breed....most likely a mix of some sort.
the himilayan breed is basically a tube with legs. So unless it's long and slender....is just a pointed breed of some sort.

the one look lionhead ... it's a broken or potentially a charlie, agouti? (hard to tell from pics). As to whether it's double or single, you tell that best when three days old.

I can't believe you found another one! Yes, Chive looks like a lionhead to me.

The other bunny has the coloring of a himi and cali, but I'm not sure if she is either one. Yes, maybe you should post more pics it will probably help.

I'm so glad you saved these poor bunnies. Are you going to go back to the field again?

More pictures to come!

She is SO friendly it is absurd. Even tolerates being snuggled :) And not in an "oh my gosh I am too scared to move" kinda way haha. Going to just let her settle in, she is definitely a female though! Guess her name is going to be Jack. Wish I knew her age....argh so frustrating. I definitely knew that Chive was young due to her size... but with Jack it's hard to tell.

I am avoiding this field like the plague! My boyfriend is going to kill me haha, I JUST moved in with him too and SURPRISE we found 2 rabbits haha. Poor guy!

Sounds like you may have found the calm friendly snuggle bun you were looking for :)

Here's hoping *fingers crossed* My boyfriend thinks she is freaky with her red eyes, I think she's a cutie pie! We're definitely going to keep her, my boyfriends a huge pushover :biggrin2:

Any name suggestions?! More pictures soon

She is definitely not a cal or himi. Could be a mix of himi and dwarf. Her ears are small and her body is long. Her face is skinny like a himi but shorter.

But oh my goodness her head looks like a Brit and even her body a little too. I would just call her a mix. She could be anything. Color is definitely black pointed white aka himalayan

Mixes are fine with me! She is RIDICULOUSLY friendly, so I 100% am not complaining. Whenever I walk into the room she's at the bars looking for affection. Her and Chive have been meeting through the bars of the cages, so far no aggression, though I believe Jack MIGHT have nipped at them. I moved them apart far enough for no contact, didn't realize how far little bunny faces can reach haha.

Any idea on how to tell age? I fed her veggies because based on her size, and her genitals, she's probably mature.

Name suggestions!!!!!!!!

She looks young to me, not a baby but not full grown. Especially only being 2 lb. My guess would be somewhere around 4 mo. But that's just a guess. Jack sounds like a sweetheart, and the perfect rabbit for you :)

Kind of try and see how her and Chive get along through the bars. If Jack is young too, babies tend to get along well, and you may be able to let them play together. Just be absolutely sure of the sexes before doing that though. Watch for signs of agression if you do decide to try it, and be ready to break anything up and separate them.

Thanks! She doesn't seem to be interested in either kinds of pellets I have, so thats why I gave her the lettuce. Which she loved. I am hoping she stays the perfect rabbit! We will keep her regardless, but it would be nice to have a snuggly rabbit since Murphy, nor Chive are that cuddly haha.

Thats what I am doing as of right now. I will be taking Chive to get fixed in May, and then Jack will be next! So I will try through the cages, then short play dates that are 100% supervised. I won't risk anything, since they are both un-altered and I am not 100% sure of Chive's gender.

Looks like her name is staying Jack ;)
