I am sorta new to Rabbits Online and just read a post where there was discussion about pellets. One member said how after eating a better type of pellet her rabbit's dropping were larger - is this good? She made it seem like a good thing. I noticed after viewing another rabbit's droppings that they were bigger than my little Pepper's (a Polish dwarf) Is it the smaller the rabbit, the smaller the dropping? Does it vary? As long as he goes, then he is good - right?

Well yes, it is true that the smaller the rabbit, the smaller the poo. You wouldn't really expect a Polish to have Flemish sized poops, no matter how good his digestion. :biggrin2:

As far as his potty habits go, when you are cleaning up after him look them over and get to know what is average for your bunny. That way if there is a problem you will catch it right away. If his poops get extra small (for him) and hard, that is a bad sign that his gut may be slowing down. On the other hand, if they get runny, very soft, or sort of slimy looking, that is something that you will want to have your vet look into.

Rabbit owners are about the most poop obsessed people you will probably ever meet, as it can tell you so much about what is going on inside the bunny. But anyway-Welcome to RO, and I hope I haven't grossed you out any! LOL

Thanks so much Gentle Giants,

I've had the little guy for about 7 months and thought that it was okay. But you know, protective bunny mama that I am - just want to check and make sure the little man is okay! Thanks again.

FuzzyLove, Parker Martin is a 3# dwarf at our house and his marbles are much smaller than the bigger residents of 5-9 lbs. The bigger the rabbit the bigger the dropping is true from my experience.

I don't know if this will help too much, yet it's a reference point. With certain veggies and greens and nutrition, I note changes in size and coloring.

Good thing to watch output sizing. You'll spot warning flags if the normal roundy marbles are decreasing in size.

Hey, no problem. In my experience, worrying over your bunny is a sign of a good bunny owner/slave. :p
