OK, so i know Lottie is a harlequin, or is she a broken harlequin because of her white? But is Harlequin a breed, or just a colour? This is where i get so confused! She's a medium sized bunny, (she weighs 5.5 pounds, although i think she is a bit overweight, or at least a little 'filled out'). Does this mean she is a harlequin mini-lop? Or just a harlequin? :panic:

Same with Archie. I know he is an Argente Bleu but is that just a colour or a breed? If its just a colour what breed is he? I don't know his weight but he is the same size as Lottie although i think he may be slightly lighter.

I know someone will come by and be able to help more, but here is what my limited knowledge has to offer:

Harlequin is a breed AND a coloring. Lottie wouldn't be a Harlequin rabbit - as in breed - but she would be in color. I would go with the mini lop with harlequin coloring. Harlequins are, I believe, are a bit larger and have upright ears. They also have a more distinct head shape - at least in my opinion. As I said, someone else will be able to help way more than me.

And, as for Archie...I haven't the slightest idea. He's a cutie though - as is Lottie.

I hope someone else will come 'round and offer more help :?.

Aside from colouring, Lottie looks VERY similar to my Snowy, and we were told when we got her that she was a Dwarf Lop. Although, I'm not entirely sure if this is true... Snowy is 7lbs ish and she's 'filled out' too but not overweight at all. Which confuses me because I thought that Dwarf Lops weren't supposed to get that big.... :?

That was probably absolutely no help whatsoever lol, sorry!

At that weight Lottie is a dwarf lop far to big for a mini lop.

And yes Argente is the breed and bleu is the colour you also get champagne, brun, creme and noir.

HAs been a while since i saw an argente so not 100% sure if he is true breed or not maybe Pam can help on that one he is very very gorgeous though *puts on my bunny napping list*

Snowy is definatly NOT a dwarf, LOL. At seven pounds, she is a medium to large sized rabbit. Dwarf would be three pounds-ish. :D

I'm in the same boat as you Fran, in trying to get the breeds and colorings down. Zamboni is a Dwarf Holland Lop but he is on the extra large size for the breed. He's not fat but he is large.lol

Sammy on the other hand is my mystery bunny. His paper work says that he is an American but from the pictures of that breed he doesn't look like them. I have it narrowed down to him being either an Alaskan (German breed) or a Polish Dwarf.

I'm not going to let it get to me if I can't findout what he is but just love him for what he is!! My hair is already thinning so no use pulling more out.lol

Time for me to start a 'what lops are Barney and Snowy' thread then lol! :D

I would have thought Lottie was a Dwarf Lop, not a Mini Lop (I think they are around 2lb). I have NO idea about the shapes of faces etc. but just going by the weight. Dwarf Lops should be in and around 5lb (according to the BRC site).

Snowy maybe is just an oversized Dwarf Lop. BRC says the max weight is 5lb 4oz, but that's breed standard, so I would think a non breed standard could be bigger? But then again, German Lops are around her size. :)

I am not sure about Argentines. But Harlequin, the breed have upright ears and are a bit bigger, differnt shaped. Lottie is a Mini Lop who is just colored harlequin.

I know most of the breeds. I can tell many dog and bunny breeds just by looking at them as I have the breeds stored in my memory:biggrin2:

Guys, American Holland Lops are called Mini Lops in other countries and our Mini Lops are called Dwarf Lops in other places, everyone remember this. American - Holland Lops are about 3--5 lbs, Mini Lops are 6-8?lbs. Other countries - Mini Lops are 2-3 lbs, Dwarf Lops are 4-6 lbs, I believe.

Lottie looks like a pet quality Holland Lop(in this country), aMini Lop in your country? Also remember a rabbit can be a breed and not be in the size range, she probably doesn't have the dwarf gene which is why she is bigger.

Archie looks like a Argente to me but I have NO experiance whatsoever with the breed.

Archie is an Argente Bleu. That is his breed and his colour! There are only a few colours of the breed Argente, such as Creme, Bleu and there's a few other colours.

Argente is his breed though. "Argente Bleu" describes his breed & colour, hence his breed ;) Does that make sense?

Lottie is a Mini Lop; I'm going with this because she has the 'butterfly' facial markings that Mini Lops have. She's 5 and a 1/2 pounds? That's perfect for a female mini lop, my boy lop is 6 pounds. They're only supposed to reach 6.5, and that's pushing it. :)

I don't believe there is such a thing as a "Dwarf Holland Lop". Sorry to burst your bubble (hehe), but he is just a regular ole' "Holland Lop" :p.

Well - I agree and disagree with Amy. Mostly agree..

I've been told by Holland Lop breeders that they are part of the "dwarf" family and therefore they are sometimes called "dwarfs" to distinguish them from the larger lops.

Don't know how true that is....but since I think you can get peanuts in hollands - I would think it is true. At least I think you can get peanuts in hollands...

Well that definitely helped my confusion. Thanks! By the way, you're from KY? I'm from 'Kentuckiana' :D
