We have recently begun raising and showing French Angora rabbits. Our unrelated male and female pair just had their first litter and this is the first time we have ever raised rabbits up from birth. She had 9 but one died (Not sure if it was still born or if it died shortly after). The babies are doing fine but I'm still kinda wondering what colors they will be.

The male and Female's are both very similar. The female is white with a bownish-tannish face and ears. Her feet are also a little brown, but it is very faint. She has red eyes.

The Male is the same pattern as the female, but he has black (Or grey, it has gotten darker since we purchased him at the beginning of the summer) where she has the tannish brown. His eyes are not red. He has a full brother who is black and a full sister who is (possibly) Red/Tan. His Mother was a REW.

what would these colors be called and what are the possible outcomes for the babies?

Also, both the mother and father were purchased with a full pedigree. Do these baby rabbits need to be Registered in order to show/breed/sell? Or do I just make pedigrees for them. I am used to Horses and rabbits are a bit different.

Thank you in advance for your help, Holly

Photos of the rabbits in question would really help. What were they identified as on their pedigrees? The does might be a pointed, the buck an ermine or sable point.

Rabbits cannot be ARBA registered until they are a minimum of 6 months of age. You can write up the pedigrees from the info you have on the sire/dam peds.

I am moving this to the rabbitry area - welcome to the forum & to the world of bunnies!

I will try to get some pictures. The babies have opened their eyes and will be three weeks old Wednesday. I am still unsure of some of the colors.
We have two REW
1 is white with a darker nose, ears, feet and tail. it's body is not thye vibrant white of the two REWs. Instead, it looks almost as if it has a browish tinge.
There are two "Blues" (thats what we are calling them, at least)Their points are a dark dark grey, except for the base of their feet. Their bodies are a lighter slate grey on the ends, but fade to white/off white as it gets to the skin.
Then there are three "Browns" These are similar to the "Greys" But they have a chocolatish/tannish color instead.
