Hello, new to the site. I have had mu rabbit Turbo for about a year and a half now. We were told that he was a dwarf rabbit but I feel that he is not dwarf in anyway so I was wondering if anybody knows any other rabbit breeds he may be. Photos attached of him recently and when we got him. 2132DC2D-219E-4EAF-967E-492BF381D24D.jpegB3D7992C-117A-49C0-AD0D-EC685C08DBF9.jpeg660B92D6-7106-4775-A58B-06DDF743315B.jpegAA1EDC79-1C7B-4FAD-BA30-158E2B8D3399.jpeg81F227D4-2F58-4717-8CF1-47172E686B1D.jpeg

What's his weight?
Although to me he doesn't really look like it he might be a dwarf breed or mix, but a "false dwarf". The thing with the dwarf gene which causes the stunted growth and tiny ears is that you get only 50% kits with the dwarf gene, and depending on if both parents are true dwarfs or not 25% (the other 25% peanuts die) or 50% false dwarfs.

Personally, I would be happier with a false dwarf, I like rabbits that look more like real rabbits more :), and I think those are less likely to run into health problems that sometimes come from being bred for looking overly cute.

He could be a Holland Lop whose ears never flopped. This happens more often than you would think, and can confuse new owners! However, if he's within 2.5 - 4.5 lbs., it's likely. For interest, his coloring looks to be "smutty orange".

He looks a lot like one of ours too. She is a smudgy orange false dwarf Holland lop. I call these ones "farm rabbits" bc the don't posses the favorable show bunny traits. IMO, When you compare with bunnies who have been line bred to produce the compact faces and shorter lopped ears, these ones look almost wild and you can see traits that help them survive in the wild. Pricked ears are better for listening for predators and protecting the herd/listening for kits nested underground, longer muzzles for foraging and digging out roots and rocks, super strong legs, etc. I think it's interesting at least. Seems like the natural rabbit is being bred out the breed. This one has strong natural instincts too. She digs tunnels all the time.

I think my bun is also a false dwarf, I was told he is a Netherland dwarf but he is quite big I didn’t pick him cause of his breed I just feel in love when I saw him.
Can you guys help me confirm or suggest what possible breed he is. Also be just turned 4months old so he is definately not a dwarf, quite big actually but I love him nonetheless.

That looks a lot like a Dutch, likely a Dutch mix depending on size and features as he matures (There are quite a few Dutch mixes out there roaming the world and their features are very distinct). I'm always hesitant to give concrete answers regarding breed in rabbits of unknown ancestry, but I know a long earred friend with Dutch ancestry when I see one. I believe the color in Dutches he has is called tortoise, although I am no expert, simply familiar with Dutches out of a long-held appreciation.

Regardless of breed, he is a beautiful rabbit and looks very well-loved from the toys I can see. The oldest known marked grave in the world is believed to belong to a Dutch rabbit named "Dutchie" in Sussex, England, who is recorded to have lived for 13 years. Give your bun a treat for us!
