My bunny Lila is due to have babies on October 1st! :D I'm so excited! She's a first time mommy and I'm new at this also so I have a few questions for all you experts ;)

So the temp here is about 70/60 F as the high and 40/30 F as the low (it could get colder in the next few weeks) Is this too cold for the babies? What temps can they survive in? I keep Lila outdoors all year but I've never had baby buns in the cold so what are your thoughts?

If it's too cold what are my options? I have a snuggle safe heat pad and I could buy a cover for the hutch (pic below) Also I could possibly put them in my garage, it's insulated but not heated. Any of these good options?

Here's a pic of the hutch I use:

And a pic of the hutch with the cover I could buy:

As for the nest box, would the little box in the hutch where the door opens (posted pic above) work as a nestbox if I stuffed it tight with bedding at the bottom and lots of hay? Also I would put up a board where Lila enters in so they won't fall out. Is this a good idea? Or do you think I should put a next box in? If you think I should put a nestbox in what should I use as a nestbox?

Any suggestions would be great :)

I posted answers to some of your same questions in your previous thread below....

I would not get the cover. It will not allow enough ventelation. I think that your idea for using the inclosed area as a nest box is a good idea. If I were you I would put a layer of about 1.5" of woodchips down and then cover the area with hay. They you should provide extra hay in the main area of the cage for the mom. She will know how to make a nest and will work on it. Those temps seen fine. If you are worried about it getting to cold you could put a towel or sheet over the main part of the cage. If you use a covering for the main part of the cage I would make sure that there is an area of at least 1-2 inches of wire exposed on the bottom. This will allow for better ventelation. Finally I would get some hardware cloth and put a strip of it over the wire going up 1-3 inches. This is just in case a baby decides to come exploring a little to early. Good luck with the babies and please post pictures.
