My rabbit barn has linoleum floors and I spread bedding on it underneath the bottom row of cages. Well, it's fine for the first couple of days, but after that, it attracts flies. I did something that seemed to have lessoned the problem, which was hanging fly ribbons from the ceiling. But I was wondering if there was anything else I could do to rid myself of this fly problem.

Thanks!

I use Dynamite on the rabbits to stop the flies bugging them but i also have a fly screen up at the front door and any open windows. The best thing we get over here (still got to find it!) is a product called Konk its like one of these fresh air sprays except it sprays a narural fly killer into the air (doesn't harm the bunnies at all!)

Nice, I should try and find that... Well, I have fly screens up in my windows. But my rabbitry also houses my goat. So I have a door in it that she can go in and out of, and that's probably where the flies get in. Hmm... it t'would be nice if they had fly resistent bedding >.< lol someday perhaps.

That's amazing! But I have a few questions:

  • Does it still work if the area is not entirely enclosed? I like to leave the doors open during the day so that they can get a little fresh air.
  • Does it harm animals at all? Because my kittens come in and out of my rabbitry, and they are very curious about everything.
  • Do they sell those in farm supply stores, by any chance?

The sprayers work well in our rabbitry, which we keep well ventilated. You'd want to mount the sprayer on the far wall away from the doors, high on the wall and not over any of the rabbit cages.

It is considered safe in most uses (these are even used in commercial kitchens), but in rare cases could cause a reaction in an animal or person who is hypersensitive to the ingredients in the spray.
