what happens if brother and sister mate? is that bad?

Breeders will occasionally use this type ofinbreeding (siblings) to set certain traits in their line, or to"ferret out" rare recessive genes as siblings are more likely to carrythe same genes.

Disadvantages are the fact that undesirable recessive genes are morelikely to surface and inbreeding can lead to "inbreeding depression",producing rabbits that lack vitality and experience reproductiveproblems.

However, there are many cases where healthy, viable offspring will be produced from a sibling cross.
