Milly my Hotot needed exercise, so I thought this wud b the perfect opportunity to bond my 3 girls with her. I had them in a pen on the deck and I put Milly in with them She immediately went to Lucy my Holland and started...ummm..."humping" her head then she started chasing all 3 of the girls and got Lucy in a corner and did it again to the business end of Lucy. I squirted Milly with a boat load of water and Milly didnt get off and had a bunch of Lucy's fur in her mouth. I grabbed Milly and removed her from the girls. My question is...is it normal for a girl to act like this when bonding to other girls???

Yes girls can be a lot more dominant than bucks Lol so she is just being extremely assertive and telling them she is the boss ( or so she thinks anyway :p )

It's a good start. If they are not fighting or getting hurt (serious bites), there is a chance for them to bond. Some pulledfur is fine, but you have to use your own judgement.

No serious fighting...the girls ran away from Milly. When Milly cornered Lucy it was a bite on the back and Lucy just sat there. Lucy is my dominant female, so it struck me as odd that Lucy just sat there and took it. My judgment is she is a he...It looked MORE than was it "should" b. Lucy seemed to like it and well so did Milly....I dont know but I will wait a while b4 I do this again, give Milly more time to "develop"

Speaking of that where are the testicles located on a bunny and and well...do they look like...ummm..."normal" recognizable testicles??? (I am struggling to put my words together with this question, sorry)

Testicles are located on either side of the genitals. They will look like two oblong sacks on either side of his genitals.

If he's got them, and you see them, it will be quite obvious. You'll have to get him flipped over to get a look.

Now, important question, are the other three girls spayed? If not, and Milly is a boy, then you will have three pregnant girls on your hands...

OMG Yep Milly is a boy WTF...NOOOOOO

1 of the other Girls is spayed, and the others were on there way to get spayed so...OH S*IT Hopefully since they were only together for a short time all is ok...Yes I know I am being very optimistic...I am not a realist at all. What is 30 days...Oh I hope Lucy is NOT pregnant.

Well, you've got a couple of options.

You can wait it out and see if they have babies in 28-32 days.  They may need to be separated and rebonded taking this route.

Or, you can get the girls spayed as soon as possible to avoid an pregnancy complications and having to rebond.

If the girl was mounted, then you have a very high probability of pregnancy.  Female rabbits are induced ovulators, which means they ovulated once mounted by a male.  This means that almost all mountings result in a pregnancy.

So there is even a possibility of a 3 month buck (Milly born July 3, 09) Would b able to impregnate a doe??? He has enough "juice" and is old enough?? (Sorry struggling again with words)

And How long do I have till I have to have Lucy spayed, I planed on getter her spayed in a couple weeks, but with this wud I b able to wait till later this week, or early next...Just curious, I don't know if I can an appt 4 the vet right away.

I highly doubt he could produce babies. I have a 3 month old buck and he would probably laugh at the thought of breeding. Some can, but it is very rare and highly unlikely.

Whew...that makes me feel a bit more at ease. I need to ponder what I am going to do, weigh my options, either way Lucy will b getting spayed as planned.

If he has visible testicles, he is capable of impregnating a female. Tinysmom has had a buck as young as 8 weeks old impregnate his mother. And I have heard of many other breeders with this happening. Also, the smaller the breed, the younger they mature.

If you already have a vets appointment booked for a couple of weeks away, I would just go with that. For gestation, you have about 4 weeks before she would give birth. Of course, the earlier the better. You can try calling your vets office and seeing what they have to say about the situation, perhaps they will be able to fit you in a bit sooner.

OK well that does not make me feel better...lol I will call tomorrow and see what the vet says. Ya I figured 4 weeks, with a 28-32 day gestation...LMAO ha ha ha

I'm just a tad bit concerned bcuz I am not a breeder, I dont wanna b a breeder and thought I was taking every precaution, to not have babies. and TBH I couldn't tell when I checked Milly for sex, and I did rely on the fact I was told Milly was a doe. I think the breeder just made an honest mistake bcuz Milly was in a cage with other Does, in the breeders "doe" section.

But so I will now b calling Milly - Mickey lol

Sexing babies is extremely hard. Mistakes are made by the most experienced breeders, rescuers and vets all the time. The gender fairy is very unpredictable.

If you have no interest in having babies, the best route is to get your girls in for their spays with in a couple of weeks.

So I called the breeder last night just to inform her of the oops in sex of Milly err umm Mickey. She called back today and felt bad...well I was/am not upset. I just asked her how to fix the pedigree. Well she offered to trade me 4 a doe...I dodnt wanna do that I love little Mickey he is like a Parakeet and rides on my shoulder...way cool :p So she said if I want I can have a doe in spring... free of charge. well my reason for calling her had nothing to do with getting a new bunny but I thought that was so nice of her. So thank goodness I have till spring to decide if I want another bunny or not...that is a huge decision to make.

Did he fall over/to his side and grunt or squeal at any time when they were together? If not it is VERY unlikeley that they bred.

Karlie

Okay, I doubt she's pregnant. Just don't let them get together again. I would get her spayed asap if you want to bond them, also nueture the buck. Let the vet know that it is possible though, and see what he/she says.

oh I didnt plan on them being together in the 1st place so a second time around is out of the question and yes getting her spayed is first on my priority list :) I will neuter the buck when he is old enough too
