OK guys now you all know that you have never seen me or my rabbits.

I am exploring getting a camera and I know that you get a memory stick and that the photos have been copied to a file but how do you get photos to this forum and specific places on this forum

Yes I realize that allof you are thinking (Geez what an idiot!) but remember I'm one of the older members of this forum and you can only try to teach an old dog a new trick.

I would like someone to recommend a good (medium priced) camera that is not difficult to use or learn on.

If there is some book like digital photograhy for dummies or something like that please recommend it to me

My main goal right now is to get good pictures of my rabbits to put on this site ...instead of being the oddball with no pic.

Hi Maureen,

I got this Kodak about a year ago and I like it: http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=8803&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=345. I got it at Target and I think it was on sale. I'm not very tech savvy and I find it pretty easy to use. It comes with an easy to understandmanual about how to use all the features. It just takesa littlepractice to get used to how to use all the setting and stuff. I pretty much only use the basics. You could look at Consumer Reports.org to find out with mid-priced cameras are rated the best. You can buy a one month subscription for something like $4-$5. The only thing that's a little frustrating is the delay on digital cameras, especially when trying to photograph a moving bunny :), but I think the only ones that don't delay are quite expensive.

One thing that I think is important (in my opinion anyway) is to get a camera that is rechargeable. I have friends that have cameras with regular batteries and it seems like the batteries run out pretty fast. Mine has a little symbol that shows when the battery is low and I just plug it in overnight and its good to go.

First you transfer your pictures from your camera to your computer. The camera comeswith a cord that goes from your camera to a USB port on your computer. Then you save your pictures in something like Photobucket so that you can resize them to use on RO. I found the directions on how to do this on RO. Maybe one of the Mod's knows if that thread is still around. I think I may have printed it out so if it got lost in the transfer, I could scan it and email it to you.

If you have any questions, let me know. Anything I can do to assist in getting your buns pictures on RO, I'm happy to do :) Since we've met, you already know I'm also a "senior" member and am not extremely computer literate so I'm a little slow at getting the picture up, but its very do-able!

I agree, Kodak Easyshare cameras are about the easiest to use. I have had one for years and it takes pretty good photos and wasnt very expensive.

As CMH mentioned, once you take photos, you can just use the USB cord that came with it to transfer the pics to your computer. Its usually easiest just to copy them to "My Pictures".

Next, you create a free account on a web hosting site like www.photobucket.com. You just upload your pics (using the Browse option) to the website and resize them to make them smaller. Then, you copy and paste the picture's url into your post here using this button

Its not too difficult :)Let us know if/when you get a camera and we'll all be happy to help. We would love to see pics of your babies!

I like my HP R707 camera. My mom has one and she is not tech savvy and it was easy for her to use. Ryan's grandparents also got one and found it easy to use. The R707 is no longer being made, but I would assume they have similar ones out now.

The menus in the camera are extremely well laid out and are very easy to figure out.

As for getting the pictures on the forum, using a program like Photobucket would work well. After the pictures are on your computer, you can go to Photobucket and upload pictures to your account. To make them show up in a post, you copy and paste the links provided below the picture in Photobucket to your account. The link you want is the IMG tag, it will have [ IMG ] some code [ /IMG ].

Wow thanks everyone. I have to read this more thoroughly so I can study the differentcameras. Pictures will be coming soon because I can't stand this anymore.

Yep :)

You can either use a hosting site, like photobucket, or use an attachment.

If you attach it, then you can only do one picture ever post, but with a hosting site, you can put as many pics in each post as you want to.

I've never heard of Snapfish so I don't have a clue what that is, sorry.

But if you go on the web to www.photobucket.com and make yourself an account, etc, then you can upload them and store them there (but I suggest keeping a copy on your comp incase something happens to the pics on the site or something).

The directions from RO is what I needed. Thanks so much Flashy I really appreciate it..just one step closer to me being able to do this. Then I can put shelter buns on too. Maureen :D

:D There are certainly a lot of people waiting to see your buns :) It will be TOTALLY worth it when you have got there :)

Actually, posting pics is a little different now. You will have to use a web hosting site like photobucket or tinypic. We dont allow attachments anymore.

We'll be glad to help you through it, Maureen. Its easy once you get the hang of it!

Maureen-

If you're still looking for a camera, I highly recommend checking out http://dpreview.com/ . There are reviews for cameras of all sizes, resolutions and price ranges to be found there. The reviews have a list of features for each camera, so you can use them to compare models as well as finding one that looks good. Good luck!

My husband downloaded a pic of me from 2001 from his old digital camera onto my computer. I want to place it in off topic where we are posting pis of ourselves. It is on photobucket and I can't get it to this site Help!

I also bought a Kodak easyshare and it is downstairs in the box. I have not opened it up yet so I can't do anything with that until I learn it.
I don't particularly want to post this stupid picture of myself but it is a test pic for the cute bunnies to come.

ok so heres what you do:

Go to Off Topic and start the thread just like you would normally. Open up another window of your browser (if youre using Internet Explorer you can click on the blank tab to the right of the tab for this site. In that second window you will go to www.photobucket.com and log into your account. Make sure you resize the picture first so its a little smaller. Then copy the last line under the picture- the one that starts with IMG (just click on it once and it will copy).

Come back to this tab/window and paste that IMG line here into this box. Then hit send.

Does that make sense?
