I recently had a litter of broken mini rex. 2 are blue and one is chocolate. I had not planned on keeping any of these babies as I prefer the solid colours but the broken chocolate looks like it will have what I am thinking is a great pattern. I am much more interested in breeding for type, fur and temperment at this point. There are certainly colours that I like better than others but it seems to me to make more sense to focus on type until I know I have some really good rabbits. My question is how much does pattern count when showing a broken coloured rabbit? I know that if there is to little or too much is a disqualification but this guy/gal looks to be just about 50% colour. But what interests me is that the colour pattern is so even! Much more so than his mom or siblings. Is this a good thing to have for showing or does it matter what the pattern looks like as long as it is within the 10-50% range? This doe has produced babies much nicer than herself in previous litters and the buck was shown and earned some legs so I am hoping that this baby is as nice in type and fur asit is in pattern (and that it is a doe.) She(he) might just be the firstin my show string!

Here a picture of her/him!

Thanks Pam - thats exactly what I wanted to know.

What is it the judges looks for in pattern though? Is it amount of colour vs white? Or shape of pattern (my broken doe has fairly even colour but hers is like solid patches, this baby's colour is like a bunch of little dots!) Does symmetry matter?
