Ok I'm wondering what rabbit has a really round head and very small ears and short hair? Because I was thinking because my lionheads ears(to long) and heads(not round enough) because I could breed it to one of my lionheads and fix the problems.

Would a netherland dwarf be the right breed to use?

netherlands have been used with lionheads, though personally I think if you are gonna get rabbits from Jane I would just keep your lionheads as pets ;)its really easy to end up taking on to much

cute nethie tho ;)

Suppose your right. So you think Jane is the right breeder to go to yeah?

I don't know if there would be much point because then your just mixing breeds again, maybe wait until you go to England, if you are and get those good rabbits and start over and not use your current rabbits in your breeding programme. Nethies are very cute though and my friend breeds black otter nethies, same as the picture.

I've always liked netherland dwarfs though. Might get one as a pet.

Yes Jane is a good breeder and the fact she will help you with a breeding plan and stuff is really good. I would totally go down that route much easier for you in the short and long term :)

A good Netherland would be a good choice to breed to your Lions, especially if they are Teddies.

Here in the states, many nice Lionheads are hybrids. I know one top breeder who has crossed Holland Lops in to get the nice heads and the high head mounts. Netherland Dwarfs have also been used extensively.

Working with Jane is also a good plan.

Thing is though it would bequite difficult for you to find a good example of a netherland dwarf or other breed to breed with your lionheads in this country.

Omg Jane is just amazing so helpful. I can't wait to see her in person. I am thinking of getting a netherland dwarf because there so cute! Plus It would help breed the teddy out of my lionheads LOL. If anyone thinks I'm doing things wrong please tell me?

You could go down the netherland dwarf route but you might find it difficult to get a decent netherland dwarf that would actually help improve your line here. You could but one of my friends rabbits, it will cost between 10-20, they are decent enough and pretty cute.

Well from what I can see your friends netherland dwarf is pretty much like the one in the picture I posted So I might get 1 netherland dwarf off her. does she have any up and coming litters?

She has litters now, two pretty old babies, roughly three months old and babies with their mother that are roughly 5 weeks old.

Oh cool could you get me some pics? I asked mam once about a new hutch she said nothing, but i'll ask her again.

I'm not too sure if I'll be able to but I'll try, you'll need to get your mam to get you two more cages, but you don't need to rush into getting one of these rabbits because she always has litters. You can either buy a black netherland dwarf or black otter. Currently she has four black otter and one black.

I like black. Well I was thinking because it would just be a baby I would house it with sukura. Till all the rabbits are moved outside. I really want a male rabbit.

Ya but if you think about it by the summer when you move the rabbits out it will be an adult. I'll keep you posted anyway, they'll have more babies every three months.

If you want to be a good breeder then the sensible thing to do is to look at all your options, which you are doing, which is great. Looking at your options does not mean doing them all, and certainly does not mean doing them now. Primarily your concenr should be with the three you have. You are intelligent enough to know that bonding doesn't always work, especially when both rabbits are, or will be, hormonal, and so ideally you need to house her separately, which will mean 4 cages (one for each other girls, and one for your boy), so if that is not an option then it would be irresponsible to look for more buns when your current buns are kept in less than ideal circumstances. If you want a nethie why not discuss it with Jane (?) or whoever it was that you contacted because she will be able to give you the best advice. If you want one just as a pet then you can afford to wait until you are in a better position to give them all more appropriate care.

On a side note, most of my buns (13 out of the 14 of mine) are nethies (although most don;t look like it, they are throwbacks) and they are a lovely breed. Just don't jump into anything and find yourself overwhelmed. The mature thing to do is to learn as much as you can, and to wait until your circumstances are better.

Were moving them outside at the end of february, So the netherland dwarf shouldn't be mature.

This is what I was thinking, I think you are rushing too much. You should concentrate on the rabbits you have now and think about the nethie when you have them all outdoors and have a better set up for them, with more cages and space.
