Question about pain meds

I don't think this vet is sending any pain medication home for Toby.

I have some leftover medication from Baby's spay (February) and Napoleon's neuter (April). When I get home, I'll see what type it is. Would it be safe to give to Toby?

I'm really sorry I didn't take him to Dr. Hannon now.

Both Rx's are under a year so they havent expired....which bun is closest to the weight of Toby? If Napoleon is the closest I would use his b/c it was also Rx'd for a neuter...Baby's might be something stronger b/c she had a spay done......any who dosage is usually done by weight so..if napoleon is 3lbs and Toby is 6lbs..double up on the meds...or if Toby is 3lbs and Napoleon6lbs..give Toby half a pill ... do it along those lines and you should be fine.....and just follow the instructions on the bottle of when to give it .. i hope hes not in too much pain!

Toby is half the size of Napoleon. Both were liquid. Does that matter? I have a syringe.

I know animals don't always exhibit signs of pain, but you know thathas to hurt! I don't want my baby boy to be in any pain.

OK so whatever they prescribed to Napoleon, give Toby HALF and you should be fine ...i would def. use Napoleons stuff just b/c it was the same kind of operation and its newer.

if possible, weigh napoleon ...and they should have weighed toby when he went in today so you can just as the vets office for his weight..........just so you accuratly dose him...of if you want to post the weights ill figure out the dosage for you

Thanks. When I get home, I'll see what Napoleon's weight was the day of his surgery compared to Toby's weight today and go from there.

Napoleon weighed 5.5 pounds. Toby weighs 3.0 pounds. The medication is called Metacam and Napoleon got 0.35 ml twice a day. How much would you give Toby? 0.20?
