Ok, so update on Bagel. He is doing great, and getting huge. However, I have a question. He has become very food obsessed, so much so that he will follow me up and down his cage, sticking his nose through the cage, and climb up the sides resulting in bumping his on the top everytime until I give him his pellets. On top of that every day when I let him out to run around the house, I always close the door to his room, and to all the other rooms upstairs, so I bring him down with me, and automatically he runs right back up the stairs sitting in front of his room, the one time I did let him back in, I had left the pellets on the floor , well he went straight for them. So even now, while the door is closed, I could bring him down, but he still runs straight upstairs, and when I try to hold him or put him on my lap, he kicks off and runs upstairs.. Its like an obsession. My friend who has had bunnies all her life, and has 2 of them now, watched him for me over the weekend while I was at the beach, she said he is the most food obsessed rabbit shes ever seen. Hes also not fat at all. so im not sure what I can do to break him of this habbit, cause I feel like im over feeding him pellets. Any advice would be great!

Thanks,

Steph

Is Bagel a rescue bunny? I am fostering a rescue that came from horrible circumstances. I'm sure he was starved. Billy seems to be food obsessed also and I'm sure it's because he has gone hungry in the past. I'm hoping that with lots of love and regular feeding that he will get past this.

Do you also feed Bagel veggies? He may just be checking back to see if you had added any veggies yet. Where did this rabbit come from? I wouldn't worry about it too much. It may be that he is extra possesive about his food. How long have you had him? This behavior may change in time. My bunnies are also sort of obsessed about food. Whenever I come in the room Oreo bounds over, thinking that I have food for him.

How long have you had him?

Is he a rescue.

I had a foster who was like that but top it off he was aggressive. With time he calmed down. Halo (May he RIP) was fed when they felt like it.

Than I have some of my own bunnies who I know have never suffered what so ever when it comes to food. They will hunt down pellets, treats ANY kind of food. No matter if they just ate.
