Have another question...

We got our mini rex in December. At first, he would just run around our living room and make himself familiar with our house, not really wanting to be held or sit still.

He is now starting to come out of the cage, hop around the living room for a bit and then stretch out and lay down on the carpet.

I am new to the rabbit world and part of me is freaking out and is panicking that something is wrong. My husband says I am weird and that he is just comfortable and calming down because he is growing up. He will sit in our lap for awhile now before getting up and hopping around.

I know I seem odd and paranoid, but is this normal? The guy we bought it from said that mini rexes are good lap bunnies. So is he just getting to that stage? He is even still enough for our 3 year old to sit and pet him.

Sorry to seem so panicky.

Oh yeah, it's totally fine, as long as he's eating/drinking/pooping like normal I doubt anything is wrong. Teddy is the same way, she'll hop around for a little while, eat a little bit, and then stretch out on or under my bed and snooze.

I agree that if he is eating/drinking/peeing/pooping like normal and there is no wounds then there is probably nothing wrong. He might just be getting lazy. Rabbits tend to be little crazy balls of energy when they are young but when they hit the age of about 1 year (give or take a little bit) they start to become fairly lazy. Please post pictures :)

Eating, drinking, peeing and pooping are all normal, so I am relieved to know that this is normal. I did read more about the bonding and it seems that Ziggy has bonded with us. It did take a good 6 months, but he follows us around, hops in our laps, lays down with us, and interacts with my kids.

I'm like a nervous first time bunny mom! LOL

Pics as requested. One is with our daughter (posted in another thread as well) and one is of him chilling out in front of his cage. :biggrin2: (Sorry, I re-sized them. Not sure if I'm attaching them correctly)

Aww he is sweet! And your daughter is a cutie too :)

It sure sounds like he has bonded to you all. I have a 3 year old son and Agnes gets along great with him too.

Welcome!

Awww, he looks like my Gary (short for Ghirardelli because they look like they have been dipped in layers of chocolate to me) :inlove:

Gary was really hyper for the first year. He will still chase the cat in the evenings, but he likes to chill and lay next to us too. Gary was a certified therapy bun until his bunwife had to retire due to health issues. He LOVES to entertain people and make them laugh.
