I just came home from the vet. It's weird they didn't tell me anything so I had to ask a lot of questions. They didn't give me medicine for him, apparently he is going to be fine with out it. The stitches are internal so he won't be trying to bite them off. Also, I looked underneath him and it scared me! They shaved it a lot down there and it still looks like he has testicles (haha) two brown little balls but I hope that's normal.

Has anyone had a similar after-neuter experience?

The testicles are removed from the scrotum, so that will still be there. There can be some fluid build up, but it should go down in a couple days. After a week or so, they should be small and wrinkly, then go away. If one or both of them are still looking full after a week, then you should go back to the vet as they may be infected (this is not to common, but can happen).
They do have to shave the belly. It is to help keep the area clean during surgery. The fur should start to grow back pretty quick, but might not be fully grown back until he moults.
I would try to get some pain medication if you can, but if the vet won't give any, then you will have to deal without it.

Yep that's normal. They only remove the testicle not the sac :/ they will reduce in size within the next few weeks. As scary as it looks it's important to check the incision site daily to make sure everything is ok

We have never been given any pain meds for our bunny's when they were fixed. I don't know if it is a cultural thing here or something, but they have never had any issues and never once showed signs of pain that would have required medicine. I know it is just used as a precaution and to make things nicer for them, but I honestly didn't feel like I was doing the wrong thing. They all recovered fine.

I hope he has a safe and healthy recovery!

Yeah it feels weird. I feel bad that he wasn't given any medicine. I don't want him to be in pain! :( He looks so sad it's making me sad.

Animals are very resilient. You can get meds if you feel you need to, but I personally wouldn't use them on my animals unless they were in visible pain. Giving medication to such a small animal for a fairly minor procedure worries me. Lots of things can go wrong if too much is given. I know in the US though is seems VERY common to have pain medication for any procedure on an animal, so whatever you think is best.

I hope he is doing well.

Well now he is walking around my room and eating so I guess he isn't in that much pain. It looks very red down there though. I guess it's normal

It will take him some time to get back to normal. Usually they should be limited to their cage for the first 24 hours, and then limited in their play area for the next week. Don't let him jump onto anything (as hard as that may be), and just keep an eye out for him picking at his wound or if anything doesn't look like it is healing properly.

Rabbits all respond differently to the anaesthetic differently. Poe was up and rearing to go less than 12 hours after going under, but some will sleep a lot more for a few days.
