I went to clean out Bell's bed today becasue itrained and it got a little wet before I got the cover on her... When Iwas going through it though, I saw large white clumps of hair! She wasbred once on January 28th. Then she was bred again because she wasn'tpregnant on Feb. 28th. Why would she pull hair so early? Did she pullhair or is she just shedding a lot? I kept the fur and replaced thebedding and then put the fur back in but should I be concerened? Shehas been acting normal... No difference.

Another Question; If a doe does not pull hair before having kits couldyou use a long haired cats fur? I thought it was a weird question butAngel (my long haired cat) is always sheding and I was wondering ifthere was someway to use the hair that is all over the place...

When was she bred again? Is shedefinitely pregnant this time or is it too early to tell? Ijust went through that with Basil, but there was no way she waspregnant, she had't been with a male. It was a falsepregnancy. I was lucky, I guess, because her personalitynever changed, she just pulled all this fur.

Cats are rabbitpreditors i wouldnteven think of attempting to usecat hair as a replacement forher she may kill thebabies before she thinks thecat can !!

Ifshe wasbredonjan 28th and again onFeb,28th she should have hadbabies on March 28th or withina few days , If she hasnt had themby now its a safe bet sheisnt pregnant . With 2misses i would wait a fullmonth before trying to breed her again, chances are she may be still too young, or you could haveher vetted and see if there is someproblem going on inside preventingher from having babies.

Well, you can tell after ten days I believe but Idon't really know how so we are not sure if she took or not... She waslast bred in March 18 th... We believe this one took but we areplanning on waiting intill April 28th to breed her again because thatway there is no doubt about her being preggers or not! She is 2 yrs.old but it may be the male we were trying with because this would behis first time and he is only 6 months old.

so does that make her about 23 days since mating- then she probably is pregnant coz i heard that its a false pregnancyif they start pulling under 17 days! Not sure though so dont take itfrom me,
Have you felt babies?

This means she is ready to have babies. And don't touch the rabbit's fur when she pulls it.

And do not use cat hair the bunnies will die.

I have not felt babies which is why I amskeptical... But I have read it is very hard to find out if a bunny ispregnant or not. I am going to wait intill the end of this monthbecause then we will know she is not pregnant. Also, would the male beto young to breed, he is only 6 months but I know his testicales havedropped... Though now he trys to mate everything and chins everythingin sight!!

The male should be old enough to breed. If a doedoesnt pull enough fur you can pull some of her belly fur yourself ,itcomes out easily right after they give birth.bluebird

Yes, I am trying to breed purebred mini-rexes but this is myfirst time... I have talked to the teacher here that does 4H and shetold me you need 4 bunnies at least to show and they all have to bepurebred and it is better if they are registered. I also have (letssee...) about 9 friends that keep asking if she has had babies so theycan have one.
