Ok, so Missouri has a new proposed ban on "wild" animals. . . But their list of "wild" animals includes most birds and reptiles that people commonly keep as pets. . . The law does allow for people to keep the animals they currently have but only if they take out extra insurance in case their canary kills someone and only if theypay a fee each year to keep the pet. . .This one does not include rabbits, but it is only one very small step away from banning rabbits as pets IMO.

The bill does have a few good points. It does not allow anyone who has been charged with animal cruelty to ever posses one of these animals or keep the ones they currently have (this should be law IMO) and it requires that the animals keepers provide adequate care for the animals.

This law is actually pretty scary if you ask me. . . Here's a link, it's a petition, but it also has the text of the bill at the top of the page.

Hey there are Rampant canaries killing people here  :roflmao:

I know most of you do not live in Missouri, but those of you that live in the states should be concerned about this. Bills like this are getting brought up in a lot of our states lately. We cannot allow the government to start banning animals currently kept as pets. If we do, what is to stop them from rabbits being next on the list?

Yup so a canary is going to kill someone? Does it actually state that in the law? If so, that's hilarious....

But, yes, this is something to be concerned about because of all those animal laws coming out there and etc. I know a knew law someplace in Calif. states that your pets MUST be speutered otherwise you face fines...Anyone in Calif. affected by that? I mean, what about rabbit breeders in CA? Do they still get to breed rabbits, as long as they're for show, etc.? I heard that show-dog breeders were on the ok, but not sure about show-rabbit breeders?

lol, no it doesn't say that a canary will kill someone in the law. It does however require anyone who currently has one (or any of the other "wild and dangerous" animals on their list) to take out extra insurance to cover "in case of bodily harm to another person or animal". It doesn't exempt any of the animals from this extra insurance thing either.
