My female rabbit has lived happily in an indoor hutch with another rabbit since July. I bought the second rabbit from my local pet shop and was assured it was female. But 2 weeks ago we found babies in the hutch, unfortunately 3 of the babies were already dead and the fourth seemed fine though it died a couple of days later. The problem I have is that Im not sure exactly when the babies were born and I think my female might have been caught again even though I separated them as soon as I knew they were mixed sex. My female is now acting strangely and runs away from me whenever I go to her cage. She is also making mounds and what almost looks like a nest in her hay and sawdust. Whereas before it was always quite level. She is also lying down quite abit, thats when she isnt digging in the corners of her cage. Im getting a nest box made just incase as I dont want to take any chances. Any advice will be appreciated, Thank you,

Rabbits can breed right after giving birth, so there is a good chance she is pregnant again.
I can't say much about her behaviour, but it does seem a bit early for her to show showing signs. Rabbits are pregnant for about 31 days, so 2 weeks in is about half way. Getting a nest box would be a good idea just to be safe, but she may use it as a litter box.

I have had a rabbit that would make her nest within 1 week of breeding. She was the best mom ever and my heart bunny. They say to give a box 1 week before they are due, but I normally give it 2 weeks before. Some rabbits just like to make nests. There is a VERY good chance that she is pregnant already. It is also not unherd of for them to be pregnant with 2 litters at the same time, so she might be due sooner than you expect.

could somebody please make this clear? Is it possible or not to be pregnant with different litters at the same time?

Rabbits have two uterine horns, so they can be pregnant with two separate litters at the same time. You won't really know for sure until she has been separated from the male for more than 32 days and there are no babies. She could have gotten pregnant again any time between when she conceived the first litter and two weeks ago when you separated them. If she is carrying another litter, she could have them anytime between now and another 2 and a half weeks. If she is showing nesting behavior, it would probably be best to get a nesting box in there right away. Oh, and LOTS of grass hay.

She has just had 3 babies tonight. They are all ok and moving around. Had to put in the nest box after she had them but was careful not to disturb the nest too much. Hope they all survive this time.
