Matt was offered a pretty great job. The thing is, it's in Pueblo Colorado. I've lived in St. Louis my entire life, my whole family is here and it's pretty much all I know so it would be a huge change to say the least. The company I work for does have a branch in Colorado Springs so I would try to transfer there. If I can't get transferred, I'm not sure what I would do.

The thing is, Matt's a chef, and him and one of the guys he works with have been talking about opening up their own restaraunt in the next five years. They actually want to open up a place here. They would both be going to the same place in Colorado and both making quite a bit more then they are here so it would be the opportunity to save more money for the restaraunt.

That would mean moving accross country with and finding a place to live with four cats and three bunnies though. I'm just not sure it is possible. I need to do some research on the animal restrictions out there. Since my job would likely be in Colorado Springs and his in Pueblo, we could potentially find a place in a smaller town between the two.

I don't even know how we would accomplish moving all of them. We were looking at houses here and all of a sudden this came up. . . . . I don't know what to do!

Sorry, I know there's not really any questions there, I just needed to get that out I guess. Do we have any memebers around the Colorado Springs area? I've never even been to Colorado!

I don't live in CO, but have spent a lot of time there, in Denver and Fort Collins, and traveled through a lot of the State. It's a beautiful State! I'm not a fan of Denver, but that's just because I don't like huge cities, but it's a nice city as far as big cities go.

CO is one of my favorite States. Hopefully someone in the area or in that State will come up to offer you so more help. But I just wanted to say I understand your stress& worry, and although it's easier said than done sometimes- where there is a will, there is a way! I know you can relocate your family - as long as you find the right place, and right situation, which I am sure is possible. But I know how big of a move this will be for you and what a change! But change is often good. Sometimes things come up to help us achieve our goals faster - so while I don't know if this is right or not, maybe it came up to help you guys. It could bea good opportunity?

Regardless, I am just offering my support! I can't help much past that. :)

I forgot to add something lol - six years ago I packed up and move across Province, not Country, but I left most everything I owned except for what was important to me, and I had a cat, a rabbit, a dog, three birds, and a Guniea pig - and they all came with me and I was able to finda place for all of us to go :)So I have a lot of faith you will be able to find a good home for you guys & your furkids.

Thanks for the support. . . . I was just talking to Matt and he is really excited about it all. If it works out with my job, I think we will end up going. Which means I have about 3 or 4 months to get everything together. . . . It sounds like kind of a long time but it's really not much time at all.

I'm not sure whether I'm more excited or scared at this point.

I lived in Colorado Springs for over 20 years. My whole family is still there and I visit a few times a year. Maybe the next time I'm there I'll get to meet you!

If you move there, I'll have to introduce you to my mom. I know she would be happy to help you out in any way she could. She's a big animal lover too. She is the adoption director for All Breeds Pet Rescue:

I know you would love the area. Colorado is a wonderful place to live.

That is awesome. I know this might be asking a lot but if I do find out we are definately going, do you think she might be able to suggesr some pet friendly places to live? That is the biggest thing I see keeping us from going out there. I know a lot of places don't really care about bunnies as much because they see them as caged animals but we have four cats and I am not willing to give any of them up in order to move.

I'm thinking if we can find one, a place between Pueblo and Colorado Springs might be best because it would be between both of our jobs and also I would think they might be more likely to be pet friendly in a smaller area.

The weather in Colorado is something I would have to get used to. The dry heat would be great, but I don't really care for winter. I do love skiing and snowboarding though so I could probably get used to it.

First of all - some questions for you!

  • Are you looking to buy - or rent? When we were looking to rent in the Dallas/Fort Worth area - we were actually working with a realtor who specialized in helping people find apartments and rehome for job moves, etc. You might want to find out if there is someone like that in that area - not sure how you would do so....
  • I don't know what the costs of living area there - but I think there is a site (I will look for it if you want me to) that will tell you that if you live on $20,000 in one city - you need $XX,000 in the other city to live equivilantly. I don't remember if it is on salaries.com or rent.com or something like that. I was thinking that Colorado was more expensive than where you are.
  • Really think about the change in climate also - if there is a change. Maybe go to weather.com and check on the average temperature every month or something?
I loved Colorado the few times I visited....oh yeah - send to the chamber of commerce for those two areas and get their information packets. If you want -I'll help you find the websites, etc.

Peg, you are amazing!! I don't know why I forgot about rent.com, I know Matt used it to find his apartment when he lived in one. We would be looking to rent because we wouldn't be there for more then five years most likely. I will have to check that out.

As far as cost of living goes, I think it is actually about the same. I will have to look for the site that you can actually see it on though. If you can find that website, that would be great.

Actually, I just found a site and according to it, we would be saving a little money by moving out there.

I would be happy to help with anything I can. My mom would probably be a better resource. Colorado Springs has grown so much that I have trouble finding my way around anymore.

You'll love the weather there. Summers are mild and humidity-free. They do get a few severe storms in the winter, but all the snow melts in between storms and it's not unusual to have 70 degree days in the middle of winter.

Oh WOW! I really think this will be an awesome opportunity! If youo're able to make the move and still work with the same company that is definantly a plus.

Good luck on your decision making, and if I can help in any possible way just let me know!
