My boyfriend and I are hobbyist rabbit breeders and recently had an issue with one of our does. At approx 21 days pregnant we were unable to palpate any babies although she showed other outward signs of pregnancy including enlarged nipples. She appeared lively and healthy with a good appetite until we found her dead one morning. There were no signs of injury or illness. She was essentially intact except for blood in her genital region and a small portion of what looked like placenta at the bottom of the cage.
I wondered if any of you had insight into this. We suspect that her pregnancy was ectopic and she died from urine rupture but I haven't found much online to support it.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
I don't think ectopic pregnancies are very common in rabbits. The best way to figure out what caused her death would be to have a necropsy performed.

Thank you. Unfortunately we don't have the body anymore so a necropsy is out of the question.
