Poopy bum after surgery?

So Muppet had her spay surgery today AND she had surgery on her teeth/gums. She is home resting comfortable eating,drinking ect. But I just checked on her for pain meds and she has smashed poo all in the long wool around her bum. It did not smell like cecal but I am not ruling that out. I don't know if she just had a cecal that she did not eat and it ended up smashed in her fur or if its real poo. Its pretty sticky though. Any advice?

I just checked her cage and she had something that looked like a cecal/poop combo. It did not smell like cecal instead it had a sickly sweet smell :/

Keep her clean and monitor closely. Our Rex is the only one we have that problem with--unscented baby wipes help.

Thanks Larry for the baby wipe advice. I went and got some and they really helped in cleaning her up. Tomorrow if she still has poopy butt she will go back to the vet. But now she is resting after her tramadol laced apple sauce

Hoping it's just stress after the operations. Which if I had to go through all of that, I'd be stinky too.

Sometimes when bunnies have surgery their guts get a little slow, probably since they don't eat right after, it's stressful, they may get gas, etc. I'd make sure she has some probiotic to get her on the right track and just keep an eye on her. Make sure she's eating well. Tramadol can cause some GI slowness itself, and they probably have her an opioid painkiller near the time of surgery, which will also slow the GI tract.

Ya we did take her back to the vet and the soft poops were cause of the tramadol which is synthetic opioid. Frags did not have this issue on it but every bunny is different. So she has some probiotic and other then that she is doing great.

Yay! Glad to hear Miss Muppet is on the mend. How do you keep a bunny from moving around, after being spayed?

Wendy~You don't have to keep them completely immobile. I restrict them to there cage for a week and my vet said that we should remove any shelves that they might try to jump on from there cages. That's about it

Glad to hear that she is doing better. Some people use corn starch to remove soft poops. Just rub it in and brush it out. Personally I prefer the baby wipes. Did you try her on some cilantro.
