Poop Issue

I have a loop mix female rabbit from the feed store that I have had for 3 years and she’s starting to get like a brown wet messy bump. I have been feeding her the same pallets and grasses since I got her. And this poop issue has been starting since a couple a months ago and I don’t know what could be wrong. She isn’t fixed either and hasn’t been around another rabbits except another one that I have which he is healthy.

I do not remember, but I they are in a green package with what looks like a mini Rex on it. I bought it from my local feed store. My rabbit was a couple of week old when I got her I do not know exactly how many because she was a feed store rabbit. I think her pallets are kaytee . I do not remember, but I they are in a green package with what looks like a mini Rex on it. I bought it from my local feed store. My rabbit was a couple of week old when I got her I do not know exactly how many because she was a feed store rabbit. I think her pallets are kaytee . Oh I also feed her 1/2 cup of pallets and it’s been the same since she got to her forever size.

I do not feed her veggies. I feed her 1/2 cups of pallets and feed her a bundle of dead grass. I do not give her any medicine except this de wormer thing that makes sure my bunnies are clear of worms. She weighs a little bit over 4 lbs but she’s been getting skinny. I have tried feeding her more pallets but she will only eat 1/2 cup a day. If I give her more grass she won’t eat all of it. There hasn’t been any changes. Although a couple of months ago I had a rabbit pass away due to old age and that rabbit has been there since I got her and after that she wouldn’t eat as much and lost weight but slowly started to eat again. The poop issue started a month later our rabbit passed.

Hay is really important for her diet. Picking grass instead is considered a diet change and can upset her tummy. Feeding fresh grass all of a sudden is like feeding a new food. It can take her tummy awhile to adjust so it is recommended to let her start out slowly on eating grass.

Hay should make up 80% or more of their daily diet. Not having that hay can certainly cause mushy poos. I would suspect that the sudden lack of hay is the culprit.

It doesn't have anything to do with their genders. It is probably just that one of them is eating more hay then the other. When I changed Theo over to a hay only diet I realized that his poops got bigger. Here is a link on rabbit poop: MediRabbit.

I think she is getting too many pellets. She should be getting 1/4 cup a day, with unlimited timothy/orchard hay, and 2-4 cups of veggies. I would reduce her pellets to 1/4 cup per day. Can you send a picture of what her poop looks like?

Her poop looks like cecal dysbiosis. It happens when the poop does not form completely; it normally stinks really bad. It normally is caused by stress, a too starchy diet, fat, sugar, or illness. Check out this link: Guide to Bunny Poops.

Do I fix her diet? I have cut down her pellets that I feed her. And it’s still persistent. And I am feeding her hay still.

What type of hay, is it timothy hay? 1/2 cup of pellets is too much, she should be getting 1/4 cup per day. What type of dewormer do you give her? Rabbits don't need to be dewormed so it is probably messing her up.

if you have access to fresh raspberry or blackberry leaves they can be very helpful in controlling wet poops. There are also other parasites they can get from eating greens, it's possible that she's picked up one of those. Best have a vet check for that .

I slowly stopped giving her the dewormer a week or two ago and yes it’s Timothy hay
