Hey guys. just wondering if anyone knows much about rabbits and pregnancy. Mine is pregnant and has been having contractions and crying for about 24 hours now. Yesterday she had blood all over her and we thought she might be having her litter, she has ripped all her fur out nested etc, and shes been pushing and contracting since yesterday. We have taken her to the vet and they have induced her but they said if she doesnt give birth they may have to do a ceaser on her which they have a small chance of surviving!
If anyone has any info i will appreciate it. Im really upset, thanks, Nat

I have edited your topic a bit and I'm moving it to the rabbitry area.

I highly recommend that you take her back to the vet for a cesarean...that is not normal for a rabbit giving birth.

I would take her to the vet honestly they should have gave her a c-section yesterday and not have made you take her back home. if she has not had the babies by now the first baby is probally stuck or to large for her to pass and when that happens it slows delivery and causes all of the kits to die. Sorry I hope your doe will be ok

Take her to the vet.
The vet will most likely need to do a C-Section on her.

I am hoping you got her to a vet and got the C-section done, a rabbit can survive a C-section and raise her litter. If the vet told you otherwise, you need to find a vet that actually knows rabbits.
Your rabbit should have been kept in office after induction to see if she passed a kit, if after 3 hours she hadn't they should have done a C-section. Time is of the essence.

Sounds like yet another case of "your animal is not worth $500+ so I don't care" that is being seen with vets too much.
