I work in New Jersey and live in NYC. My apt building is literally right across the river from where I work.

This afternoon I got a sudden FLOOD of IMs from people who work in other offices of my firmall asking me if every thing was ok, and if I could see "it". "It"?? What are you people talking about?

My husband IMs me and tells me a plane fell into the Hudson river! Probably hundreds of feet from my apt! My home! Where my Kirby bunny was while I was at work!!! My work area is right next to the window with a river view so there it was... a plane in the river. I saw tons of boats and ferries rush toward the crash site. I was far enough away sitting in the office but I watched and measured from afar how "far" it was from the apt... from where I was sitting, it didn't look very far at all...........

I had chills going down my spine for hours. I coudln't quite understand why but the more I think about it the more horrifying it is... what if the plane didn't land right? What if it crashed into a building? Like 2 years ago when the Yankee rammed his plane into some midtown building? What would be of my Kirby? I can't even think.

Thankfully everyone on that plane survived. It's quite a miracle! The ferryboats came to the rescue very very quickly. Commuter ferries were suspended. I got home really late as a result. See my blog for Kirby's POV of this event.

That pilot deserves a medal for getting the plane down safely and not only that, he toured the plane twice to ensure that everyone had got out safely.

It must have been terrifying for those on board but thank goodness all's well.

Jen, I think the title of one of the articles was dumb. The plane went down because they think a flock of birds got sucked into the engines (poor birdies!).

Yes, that's what I meant! Sorry, I replied in a hurry earlier for some reasons and didn't really think about what I was typing!

Not only was the pilot a hero, but a ferry that just happened to be there noticed people in the water and sped over to load the people onto their ferry.

Heroes and angels abounded, yesterday, on such a cold day.. the water was 36 degrees.
