Are pine cones safe for guinea pigs to chew?

I know they're safe for rabbits, so I would assume the same for guinea pigs. You have to make sure that they're open and completely dried out. Some people also boil them in hot water first, to kill off any possible nasty things, and then dry them in an oven on low heat or in the sun on a warm day.
